Which SACA idiot decided it'd be a good idea to let Cosgrove go:eek: Sure he took up a little extra space on the cricket field, but he's still one of, if not the most talented batsmen in Australia, plus he's a pretty useful bowler.

Just won a match for Tasmania off his own bat, 100 in the first innings and has just smacked 86 off 53 balls to chase down WA's measly 2nd innings total.

If the Australian Cricket selectors had a pair, they'd ignore the fact that he's overweight and instate him in the test side for Boxing Day, because at the moment our test side is operating on 2 batsman plus a wicketkeeper batsman (Hussey, Watson and Haddin). We're just lucky the bowlers have decided to bring home the bacon for once.

:cool:The issue of the redbacks has been a boil on this states rear end for too long. There should be an independent inquiry into the administration of the game here both at 1st class and district level.

The policy of releasing local talent (Cosgrove, Harris) and not persevering anf fostering identified talent (Cullen, Bailey) in favour of recruiting the bulk of our side had failed miserably. The KPI's in the eastern states do not revolve around team success, they are based upon producing players for national selection which must be the goal of each state. Players that the eastern states are happy to release would already have been identified as players unlikely to play for Australia. We therefore end up with average players capable of only average performances. We need players hungry, capable and knocking on the door of national selection. Presently we have just 2.

As a glaring example we have a reject like O'Brien, an average, safe kind of option to tie up an end. This was a quick fix rather than working with and developing Cullen and Bailey who had national contracts FFS. These guys have been abandoned in favour of wallpapering cracks and trying not to be embarassed in matches. I mean who is the latest hacker they have begged to come over...Lang? Seriously!!!!!

Now we are in a situation of wondering just who the hell we have in junior ranks capable of stepping up. Who would know because we have spent the last 3-4 seasons papering over the cracks with plodders. (possible exception of Klinger) and not developing what talent we have.

Its a joke, a disgrace and there must be an Inquiry into the admin of all cricket in this state to determine proper development and pathways for test cricketers.

:cool:Not happy

Nah, screw Puddings.

Right decision, should've been made years ago.

LBW isn't a problem if you are good enough with the bat.

clearly the redbacks still reek of failure - that last innings should have at least been closer to what was required.

I guess winning the now defunct BIg Bash series is enough to keep the current administration in power for another 20 years

Bump.

Nit sure if their was a Red backs thread but this is good enough.

Great first up win for the season in the 50 over limited overs format of the game.

Tom cooper, brilliant knock with 100. Lets see how the go in the longer format of the game. :thumbsu:

I think the 36ers can take over this mantle now. How could you get thumped by the Sydney Kings

Not a great start to the season but to be the most embarrassing side in the history of SA sport, is a big ask.

Saying that, it would be a very good discussion on who would be the best ever and the worse.
