well done lake , another grand final,
If I am not mistaken that 7 out of the last 8 seasons and and a chance to make it 5 out of 8 for flags whatever happens awesome effort by the club after 25 years in the premiership wilderness,
I am gonna give Ian aubrey a big wrap and say after years of his hard work for the club he should (and probably will)go along on grand final day this year and be really proud.
go tigers!!

It is fifty years this year that the mighty black and gold colours moved from Burgooney into the Lake, so the boys might keep that in mind on Saturday when they take on the Bulldogs.
It was a great night out last Wednesday at the NRFL presentation night with twelve of the boys getting points on the board. MAtt Smith from Wyalong took out the B&F and Goal kicker, with Young Sonney Bartholomew getting the Rising Star Award. Go Tigers

wyalong for the flag!! they have all the ingredients, a good mix of youth and experience and a real hunger by a few guys in particular... they need to keep an eye on a few match ups but they have some guns too... everyone get out and have a look at barellan... will be a ripper

What do you suggest will be the key match ups. Surely big Number 4 will require at least three or four opponents. Watched him at West Wyalong play Barellan. No man in the Northern Riverina Football League will be able to contain him one on one. He is one massive unit and dont be fooled, he can play the game. They mustn't take him lightly. Chopper must pay him close attention i would imagine.

What are your other suggestions for possible match ups?

Wyalong for me too.....

Heard through the grapevine that one Nat Herden is playing in the Grand Final, under an injury cloud. Just thought the Lake boys would want to know that. I would imagine that he will come under some pretty close attention in the Grand Final. From all reports there are one or two others in the team, playing with some injury. Apparently Chopper is going to risk these players. Might be the decision of his life time or come back and bit him on the bum. Time will only tell.

However, Tigers beware of the injured player. They always have a tendency of playing well.

Come on bloggers, give us something to talk about. Get talking.........

not many comments on re the gf
hope the tigers young guns will fire!!!

1's 2:30; Lake Vs G-WW

17's 12:30; Ungarie Vs G-WW

14's 11:00; Lake Vs Barellan

12's 9:30; Barellan V's Ungarie

seen lake play a couple of times not yet seen wylong. but think lake will have to much firepower up forward on a try day but weather condition's may play a factor now tho

Re: Northern Riverina Football League

Will a good game between two evenly matched teams. The ground at Barellan is looking a treat too so should be a great day as always.

West Wyalong for me - too many options up forward in Herden and Smith but will certainly be a close one. Lake will be tough to beat!

Re: Northern Riverina Football League

Bulldogs won ..and deserved the win. They outplayed Lake from the outset by not allowing them to play their usual game. GWW totally dominated the ball, with the Lake back line putting in double time. GWW young gun Chase Grintall named best on field. Got to wonder about some of the positional decisions made by Lake, but there is a whole year to ponder on them. In my opinion best for Lake was Chris McFadyen, Sonney Bartholomew and Phil Aubrey.

Re: Northern Riverina Football League

Former Hillston player Billy May stars in Queanbeyan's Div 2 sides win over Belconnen to go straight into the AFL Canberra Grand Final. A great effort in his first season at this level with 7 First Grade games including playing Sydney at the SCG and now a Grand Final appearance in two weeks time!

Re: Northern Riverina Football League

That is great news about Billy, he is one tough nut out on the footy field

Billy May is now a premiership player with the mighty Queanbeyan Tigers after a 27 point win against Eastlake:thumbsu:.
He had a pretty solid game at Centre Half Forward and will certainly be a better player for years to come having experienced Semi Professional football in the Canberra Competition:thumbsu:.

Hey guys, im just wondering where i would fit in down here? im looking to move down this way somewhere and i realise there are quite a few leagues around the area and clubs.

Depending on what standard of footy you are playing now and how you go and what location you are looking at!!

If you are a battler or just want to play social footy the northern riverina league will suit or if you go alright and play a reasonable standard the Riverina League would suit!! Griffith Swans is a good choice if thats the case with plenty of employment etc. Great facilities and looking for new players and coaches. If you are interested private message me and i can give you a contact number and get the ball rolling. :thumbsu:

Well i would like to have a honest idea of where i would fit in before making any decisions. I have AFL family blood in me (melbourne & canberra) however have lived in QLD all my life and only played here. There is not doubt the league i currently played in is at a lower standard of probably quite a few leagues in the area down there however on the other side of the coin i played for queensland in under 16's and won the capricornia league best and fairest this year. I really want to move to AFL territory and have some options so far but i am just looking to gauge where im at and get some opinions and further options.

swanstar... your best bet by the sounds of things would be to go to the RFL (Riverina Football League). the competition is really strong and a lot of clubs adopt a reasonably professional culture. if you would like some contact details just post a reply..

whats the difference between the leagues? like north riverena, riverena, black diamond, hume etc?

RFL is the major league in the Riverina and play against Wagga Sides x 3 or 4 Narrandera/Leeton/Coolamon/Griffith/Ganmain/Mango etc.:thumbsu:

Hume league is the minor league outside the Albury (Ovens & Murrays League) and play against Osbourne/Lockart just to name a few.

Northern Riverina with no disrespect is like being put out to pasture as a horse. Your body has had enough but still the will to play and like the social side of things. Lots of long distance travel but only 12 or 14 games!!

Dont no much about the black diamond sorry.

If you want to be in an AFL area that is pro AFL then NSW probably aint gunna cut it. Most of these towns are lucky to get much coverage apart from Wagga & Albury. This is because of NRL/Soccer/Touch and ARL being the sport of choice for most familys in the area.

If you want to get that AFL fix you need to get a bit closer to Melbourne and play in the country.

I have played in many leagues including Griffith NSW and it would be the worst area if you are a die hard AFL nut but is a great club if that makes sense.

I am currently in Mildura still involved but not playing and the coverage here is second to none for that fix except its 6hrs drive from melbourne in a car!! But Virgin fly there for $69 one way!!:thumbsu:

Anyway if you want some contacts please message me and i will help out where i can!! Good luck............

Hey swanstar, maybe you might want to have a look at the Queanbeyan Tigers who play in the AFL Canberra comp:thumbsu:.
They have great culture and play in a pretty fantastic comp and have a proud history in developing and giving players like yourself the chance to experience the Tigers Culture.
If you really want to give yourself a challenge with your footy send me a reply:)
