Waverly blues think they are all that, need to be taken down a peg or two IMO. They have u19's and a junior club, they would be fine, they've benefited from the demise of GWH no doubt, very arrogant club (Have they ever been division 2 or above?) from my dealings with them over the years.

I doubt that, all of GWH went to Oakleigh.

Otherwise Oakleigh probably wouldn’t have been able to put a side out. The previous year they had a stack of players playing both Ressies and seniors.

So same thing. It’s just a merry go round - bring in clubs and others fall over.

50 clubs ain’t gonna happen and if it does, it won’t last. It’s a stupid mirage.

Well said, unfortunately clubs are going to fall over sad to see.

Being a President of a club is a thankless task, as is being on the board. Good people who know what they are doing are few and far between. A lot of clubs suceed and fail based on who’s running the club. I’ve witnessed this a few times and it’s the never ending circle of love for many clubs.

It is generally luck in terms of who walks through the door

Why? So they can take a big pile of Waverley Blues players and then they can struggle?

It doesn’t solve anything.

There were a number of clubs that struggled to field reserves teams many times last year.

Sooner or later they need to pay the piper. Fiddling by bringing in this team or that team doesn’t do anything.

Ashwood FC have coexisted with Waverley Blues for four decades. Whether Ashwood is Southern or Eastern does not stop them poaching eaching others players.

So why did their statement on changing leagues say that easier recruiting is the #1 reason?

Along with pretty much every club that comes into the comp which says the same thing.

All the drainage, top soil and turf are still to be done. Don't worry, the cricket pitch will be level with the ground surface when finished.

I had thought it was getting a turf deck block - something to do with elite women’s cricket?

No, Whitehorse doesn't like turf pitches as they are expensive to maintain. There are only 5 turf pitches in Whitehorse. Mont Albert Reserve, Surrey Park, Wattle Park (both used by Surrey Hills CC), Box Hill City Oval and Springfield Reserve (both used by Box Hill CC). And just for the record, I've played on all of them.

Wattle Park isn't CoW. It's Parks Victoria

The lack of understanding from the council about pre season training for footy is staggering. They just don’t care.
I think Whitehorse Council does and I partially like as it is important to look after our grounds during the summer months. At Walker Park,Vermont are 2 grounds where the goal posts are pulled out but not sure they do at other grounds.Pretty sure Manningham Council pull all goal posts out on their grounds.Biggest problem at WP is the net at the northern end during the summer months attracts outsiders and that area needs a rest from all the traffic there.(Goal posts have been removed) Biggest problem for bans on our senior football grounds is where do they do their pre season training?

I see no issue with training on home deck in runners only up until March. A healthy relationship between footy, cricket and council is vital.
Then if it rains, you stay off and get put somewhere else by the council. As long as there is respect from both ends, I don’t see what the issue is.
Monash are horrible and are the worst by a mile. Zero care about footy training in summer and if you’re lucky you can beg for a grass patch somewhere. If there’s nothing it’s “sorry is what it is”. You’re better off contacting a cricket club directly to see if a ground is free.

The problem is footy regularly doesn't respect that it's not their tenancy during summer. That's why councils have to enforce these strict allowances for access to grounds, so cricket clubs can use the facilities they've paid council to use without being bullied into letting footy do what they want.

My boys had the night off tonight off due to the storms today.
It’s bloody hard to train on a wet deck in runners only. You are likely have someone hurt themselves over exerting this early in pre-season.
Grounds are hard to source to train on. Agree that runners should be fine especially when the ground has a hard wicket on it.

It’s a tough one

Cricket has priority obviously

Footy can use it if they don’t damage it

Should only wear runners, but that can be dangerous

Mind you years ago everybody did it and seemed to work it out, before councils felt the need to impose themselves on everything. I guess there were lower expectations on the state of grounds though.

You go and offer to pay some of the local schools for access to their oval or maybe even offer to run some clinics for kids at the school. You never know, you might recruit some new juniors. Council has no say over the use of school ovals.
