WARRANDYTE
Local footy journeyman Dean Limbach has found a new home for 2024 at the Division 3 club.
The former Williamstown VFL forward crosses from Templestowe where he played 12 matches this season after linking with the Division 2 outfit in May.
The spearhead has kicked almost 900 goals across more than 250 games in a career spanning several clubs.
DIVISION 4
CHIRNSIDE PARK

The Panthers have been arguably Division 4’s most active club this off-season, signing a package of recruits headlined by Justin Ficorilli.
The livewire forward has more than 500 goals to his name in the Eastern league across stints at Croydon and Silvan, helping Silvan to the Division 4 flag in 2022 with 70 majors.
Football journeyman Tyson McKenzie has also signed. McKenzie has won two best-and-fairests, twice named in league teams of the year and has taken in multiple leading goalkicker awards across stops at several clubs. The experienced midfielder’s stops have included Silvan, Mitcham, Warburton Milgrove and Coldstream, having also served as playing-coach of Congupna in the Murray Football League in 2016 and 2017.
Midfielders Peter Cassidy-Marsh (Nunawading), Aidan Pemberton (Croydon) and Billy Findlay (Ashwood) round out the key signings.
ROYDON NORTH-MLOC
A couple of handy signings for the Kanga-Rams, with quick-moving midfielder Benjamin Gill crossing from Park Orchards, while key forward and ruckman Mitch Starling has also joined.
KILSYTH
The Cougars have welcomed midfielder Dean Maunder (Yarra Junction), while former club juniors Cody George, touted as a tall forward, and Luke Ivanovic (utility) have also signed amid a quiet off-season of recruiting.
NUNAWADING
Ruckman Thomas Flood has joined the Lions, reuniting with former Manningham Cobras coach Frank Salanitri. Flood played under Salanitri at the Cobras, making the 2019 VAFA Division 3 Team of the Year. He’s also had stints with St Albans and most recently Whittlesea in the Northern league’s Division 1, where he played nine games this season.
SCORESBY
Adam Amin headlines the Maggies’ signings, with the former Glen Waverley key forward returning to the Eastern league following stops at West Gippsland clubs Dalyston, and Koo Wee Rup where he kicked 34 goals from 17 matches this year.
Prolific ball-winner Hugh Alabaster has signed on, crossing from Wantirna South’s under-19s where he was named in the Devils’ best on 10 occasions this season, finishing runner-up for the best and fairest. He’s joined by Devils teammate Jake Raymakers.
Cooper Thompson (Noble Park) has also signed.
Bloody hell, there must be a lot of plumbers plying their trade around Sth Belgrave.

It’s cos they don’t want to put in the work at DE.
That nuffie president won't be happy. I love how they all of a sudden are appearing to prioritize youth (probably paying players to coach the junior club) While throwing the bank at any big fish they can find

I've heard Norwood are in dire straits. 17/22 of last years round 18 side gone. Apparently are panic buying whoever they can find. Multiple people have said this and i've seen a large chunk of new players in their new clubs signing post saying "coming over from norwood"

If you’re signing Gysberts and Tom Highmore, things can’t be that bad surely?

Gysberts hasn't played in a long time mate, I know he is a gun but at 32 there's question marks there if he can get back to his best. I highly doubt Highmore plays. Freshly delisted (i thought it was a harsh one too) from STK he has signed with Port melbourne in the VFL, where he will def play week in week out, can play with norwood if they have a bye or he is dropped.

Another one defects from Norwood with Jamie Bennell going to ER. Going to be a lot of ex Norwood players playing against them this year.

I guess an experienced coach in Moyle is a positive move. I wonder if he knew 75% of the senior team was leaving.

They are desperate, chasing anyone now. Wonder if the cash is gone or if something internal has gone wrong.

The coach is gonna have to do a shitload of recruiting between now and the praccy games

Justin Koschitzke is his assistant. It will be interesting when the transfers are up in Feb to see how many have gone.

Might not necessarily be either, sometimes these things can be a bit of an end of an era, coach leaves, a few players leave, and it doesn’t take much for momentum to quickly build and it becomes bad very quickly.

It’s quite critical you have a strong internal culture and bring your own players through. From the outside you would have to say this hasn’t been happening, when you consider the fact they didn’t have U19s last year.

Guys with no connection to the place who really just come for money will leave just as easily.

Go to their website and download their Annual Report for their AGM. It will give you a bit of insight into their financial position.

Had a quick look. Certainly didn’t hold back on page 8. President talking about previous toxic leadership and accusing some clubs without naming them blatantly cheating the salary cap.

He sounds to me like he needs a rest. How long has he been president for?

Turnover is a good thing, having said that, at community level, there needs to be somebody willing to take on the job.

Apparently the points system and salary cap are challenging. They need to stop buying money players and “pitstop players”.

Many clubs seem to know this but also then just go and prioritise short term success over building from within.

Also read. Sounds like a bit of sour grapes to me, e.g. if we aren't winning, it must be the other clubs cheating as a reason to why.

Low ressies numbers and no u19's that year would've been tough.

Mark has been president for some time. A few things in the report stand out for mine,
  • reference to the blatant cheating of other clubs (as if we didn’t know that anyway)
  • the toxic departures of club leaders
  • a less than positive message about the senior coach and his assistants
  • no senior coach report

Think there may be some troubles at Norwood which is surprising as they have been a stable club for some time. They may be fortunate Berwick are still around as they are in a mess with a large number of key players having left the club.

Yeah, if the coach has gone, he's not going to bother giving a report I suppose. The weird comment about the lack of gameday staff confused me, Are we talking about a magnet board holder or lack of coaches?

How long has Mark been pres? I've always been a believer pres should be no more than 3-5 max years a term, keeping the energy up around the place with new & fresh ideas, and stopping burn out. Maybe its what they need.

You’re right on the max term, can always step back to a committee position and help out by advising the new pres.

Having said that, you need somebody new to want to step up and do the job, which isn’t always the case at local clubs.

Yeah Berwick will struggle and it will be who wins when they play each other who will get relegated because i can’t see either of them winning any other game. At least Berwick have good numbers and plenty of youth and will again field 2 u19s teams.

Reading between the lines (though it's hardly hidden) I reckon he's having a massive go at Jordan, who has departed to coach Croydon. He talks about toxic player leaders (Jordan was captain) and also has a crack about "coaches having a false sense of security as to numbers and quickly realising a lack thereof"... Jordan was announced as coach of the U19s which quickly fell apart due to them not having numbers.

Fair parting swipe on the way out.

Pask at least gets a thanks for his hard work.

Conspiracy theory would be that Jordan was set to take over as senior coach but has instead pissed off to Croydon and possibly taken a few players with him, and then a shitload of other players have decided to go too. Nothing to back that up but he's very angry at somebody and he would appear the likely target.
