Do you mean D2 ammos as in the 5th tier of ammos? Beating D2 EFNL sides? Surely not in any game taken half seriously.

When one comp has 7 tiers and the other 5, a team in the 5th tier beating a team in the 3rd tier is not unheard of at all.

In fairness that club would have been in the 3rd tier of Ammo’s if not for Covid.

Whitefriars and Aquinas would be good additions into the EFNL 4th division

Don’t think Whitefriars would want to play at a lower standard.

There is zero chance the Div 2 VAFA (Div 5) is any better than EFL Div 4 (Div 5). Perhaps the bottom 3 teams but they’d fit right in with the top 4.

This is coming from numerous players that have played both.

Ok so it happened once, and a practice match.

D2 ammos (the fifth tier) is absolutely nowhere near D2 EFNL.

Premier C (the third tier) is the equivalent.

Yeah supposes to clarify my question.

How does division 2/3 (bottom divisions) amateurs compare to division 4 Eastern (bottom division)?

Haha, zero chance? EFL Div 4 has the worst bottom 3 in football which includes a side who used to be bottom of D4 Ammo’s and you think it’s better than D2?

Bulleen Temp would be 5th in Div 4 EFL.

Don't think they can unless Blackburn rescind their claim on the ground
Eley Park play on the Howard Wilson Oval the oval next to Box Hill School and opposite the Box Hill Football Ground. They did use to play on that oval opposite Eley Road a few years back and these days Blackburn Football Club Womens sides play on the vacant ground I think.

Aquinas would depend on the oval and facilities at its home ground. It has come in for a bit of criticism from other VAFA clubs in recent years.

Appalling facilities, and they are always butting heads with the school over ground use, the bottom oval has to be one of the biggest dumps in the league, borderline dangerous

Yeah no way this is happening. maybe D3 EFNL sides? Even then

D2 EFNL sides worst 6 players would be on par with half of D2 Ammos sides players. If that makes sense.
Money means there are no passengers, unlike D2 Vafa's worst 6-8 players on each team who would be playing reserves in D2 EFNL sides.

Two ovals, neither great but they manage to make it work.

I don't think the sticking point would be facilities. More likely the fact they have two women's sides

We only use it for juniors - so Sundays. Of course, if EP went back to EP then their current ground would become available

And practice nights for both the men's and women's teams. Would have to have the worst clubrooms going and is one of the reasons Eley Park Cricket Club is doing so poorly for numbers and a key reason Eley Park Football Club moved to the Howard Wilson Oval next to Box Hill High. The clubrooms there are miniscule and old but far better than those at Eley Park. Ground surface is also far better than Eley Park.

The sun is all of a sudden shining, and the air is starting to smell like finals, for Div 3 that starts next week.

  • South Croydon huge backs to the wall type win against Balwyn, with only Berwick and Donny East to come its hard to see them missing finals. Their best is as good as anyone's, whether they can do it 4 weeks in a row will be the question.
  • Blackburn let one slip against Noble Park at the worst possible time after knocking off Rowville last week. They have had a habit of dropping these types of games in recent times. They have dropped to 6th on the ladder and will miss finals unless Vermont or South Croydon slip up. There is narrow path to finals but it needs Vermont to lose to East Ringwood in round 18, but Blackburn would have to also knock off Balwyn. Unlikely.
  • In Div 1 Mitcham knock off Beaconsfield in a finals like game and with that secure the double chance. Huge game next week against ladder leader Park Orchards but the result will be largely irrelevant for ladder positions. The interesting part is Mitcham is the only team to have beaten Park Orchards this year. If they could do it again it might just plant some mental seeds inside the Park Orchards heads leading into finals.
  • We can finally say that Wantirna South in mathematically relegated. A new coach and only 1 win for the year usually leads to a tap on the shoulder for the coach but the club announced they will be sticking with Jason Heffernan for next year, which is good news.
  • Montrose win their 3rd game in row which is great news leading into finals. They had a mid season slump after looking like one of the top contenders earlier on in the season. They cant finish higher than 4th but their best football is very good.
  • In Div 2 after looking a lock for a top 3 spot a few weeks ago, Croydon have lost 3 games in row. Their last 3 games have been against the 3 teams ahead of them on the ladder in Boronia, Waverley and Mulgrave. Maybe that's just where they are? They can still finish top 3 if results go their way in next week but they also have a very tricky game against Heathmont themselves.
  • For Waverley it was the win they needed against Croydon, had been top 3 all year but their form just dropped away dramatically. Maybe it coincided with the wet weather? The sun is shining again and the grounds have dried up very quickly. Have an easy kill against The Basin in the last game before finals so should finish 2nd on the ladder.
  • Mulgrave hold of Ringwood and keep their double chance hopes alive. Mulgrave have Templestowe next week who have probably locked up 5th spot as Ringwood would need to beat Boronia and rely on Templestowe losing to Mulgrave to overtake them into 5th.
  • In Div 3 it was the final round before finals and the top 5 were playing the bottom 5. Although we had a heap of possible upset scenarios for 5th spot, nothing actually happened. Oakleigh defeated FTG so anything else became irrelevant.
  • The top 4 all had a easy week leading into finals with Donvale winning by 52 points, Surrey Park winning by 64 points, Knox winning by 121 points and Coldstream winning by 104 points.
  • Darcy Fritsch had a day out kicking 11 leaving him on 91 after 18 games. Has at least 1 final to try and reach the 100.
  • In Div 4 only 1 more week until a really interesting finals series begins. But lets face it, the season has been a procession. The top 4 was decided 14 weeks ago.
  • Scoresby who are currently second, will finish on top when they annihilate Forest Hill next week as Chirnside Park who are currently on top has the bye.
  • Whitehorse V Kilsyth will be played 2 weeks in a row, next week in round 18 and the first week of finals in an elimination.
  • If Nunawading can beat CNMLOC next week, then Forest Hill will finish on the bottom of the ladder. The last time they finished bottom was 2003. It will also be the first time since 2015 that the wooden spoon hasnt gone to either Nunawading or CNMLOC.

Nunawading need to sort their sh** out. Senior game says they didnt even have 18 on the weekend. Numbers have been absent or wrong all year. Who knows how many they actually had, but the teamsheets have been a debacle all year

This. Don’t think the seniors train there - the women’s teams may and some junior sides. Think initially the plan was to make it the women’s and girls’ home but the rooms are no good as you say and are too low down from the ground! Ground good in dry, less so when wet

One for you bunk…

Vermont 15a’s on the weekend. With Blackburn coming hard the ‘gamesmanship’ shown crossed the line into cheating for mine. Blokes lying down with ‘cramp’ to milk the clock, rolling the ball back to a Blackburn player (should’ve been 25, wasn’t paid) and then slowly kicking it out after the last point (which they actually got pinged for however the non-controlling umpire ruled the kick be from the 40 line not the top of the square as it should’ve been)

Terrible club terrible people and protected by the league. Hope they choke on a flag they did not deserve

They are there, maybe U19's. I go there every week for tennis and they are there most Wednesdays although I haven't seen anyone for the last month. Their cars fill up the car park.

Give us a spell. You can’t tell me Blackburn wouldn’t do the same if it wasn’t on the other foot

Assume they were playing no time-on?

Terrible rule, so ripe for cheating

I’ve certainly played in games (including finals) where if we got up the tactic was to play the side of the ground that dropped away into a hill over the fence.
Many an “errant” kick out of bounds on the full where it took a good 2-3 minutes to retrieve the pill.

Exactly. It’s an appalling situation. I think it’s in every grade now except senior men’s. Absolutely ridiculous. At least play it in the last quarter.
