Casey women (SFNL) and Bulleen Templestowe (VAFA) were both voted in by EFNL clubs.

Find this interesting on a few fronts: https://efnl.org.au/efnl-welcomes-bulleen-templestowe-fc-to-the-league-in-2025/

Only one mentioned? VAFA have clearly waved Bulleen Templestowe through. The SFNL perhaps have not with Casey?

Secondly, why is EFNL constantly now referring to Bulleen-Templestowe as just “Bulleen”? A bit of PR attempt around not cannibalising their own club in Templestowe?

Will Bulleen-Templestowe be bringing their Junior Club across? Not knowing much about them these days but growing up playing against them in the YJFL they were a very strong Junior club. Most Age groups they were in Gold (A Div) and were always in finals

VAFA gave the move its blessing so there was no obstacle after the EFNL clubs voted them in.

The article on the league website is confusing with constant switching between "Bulleen-Templestowe" and "Bulleen Bullants".

I can't see Templestowe being too upset because Bulleen-Templestowe has been known by that name for some 50 years, in the same way we have Doncaster/Doncaster East and Ringwood/North Ringwood/East Ringwood and Croydon/South Croydon.

From memory, the club's recent motion was to change its name from the Bulleen-Templestowe Amateur Football Club to the Bulleen-Templestowe Football Club.

Photo looks fine to me, only dropped the amateur out of the name. I'm interested to see how they go. A few of times Over 2023/24 I saw them they were extremely young, drifting in and out of games, cracked in but ultimately bottom division of the vafa standard. Their reserves were a bunch of guys who obviously didnt train, rocking up each week to be belted. Their u19s will hopefully stick around now. This day and age where its never been more expensive to put a footy team on the field, the extra cost of matchies will be hard to incorperate I reckon. Good luck to them

I think you will find they are separate clubs, and the YJFL is a fantastic junior league, no vermonts or blackburns poaching u15/16/17's to make them 1 pointers in the future.

Considering Bulleen-Temp isn’t even in Bulleen i find this funny, just call them the Bullants, or Templestowe Lower.

Because the club was formed out of the Bulleen-Templestowe Youth Club (BTYC) and the club services the people of the Bulleen and Templestowe district.

I suppose we would have to rename most of the AFL clubs and a number of grassroots clubs based on the logic you provided above. For instance. every Victorian AFL team other than Geelong would have to become either Docklands or Jolimont by your logic. That would make the fixture a bit hard to decipher ... Docklands Bulldogs v Docklands Saints or Jolimont Demons v Jolimont Magpies!

The sale of beer during matches will benefit their bottom line greatly compared to when they were in the VAFA.

Thats not going to cover every players matchies though. In the lower droves of the VAFA there is beer getting sold. Just can't parade around with it for the very small chance a vafa official is around. Then post senior match everyone at the ground is inside having a beer

I like their initiative, they were going bust in the VAFA, why not give something else a crack. I fear for them if this doesnt work though.

I’d be very surprised if they made the move.

I'd say its unlikely this won't improve their situation. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they pulled a Surrey Park at some point.

I reckon your right, Southern are more then likely challenging the Casey womens move.

In the statement, it also says they hope to have 10 teams in division 4 in 2026 which is interesting.

ashwood will go again you'd think. they seemed forced out by how advanced bulleen's application was so possibly them and upwey
I was talking to a couple of old Upwey stalwarts last week, they never mentioned anything about heading to the EFNL, they where hoping the outer east was going to return to being called the
YVMDFL.

By what logic? I clearly responded to a poster who was criticising the EFNL for referring to the club as Bulleen only, that’s it.

The word is two div 4 teams are basically insolvent. Whether they fold this year or next year depends on whether they can field teams with players that play for nothing. Div 4 in 2025 could possibly be only 6 teams.

Nunawading and forest hill?

Nuna look cooked. Kept the wolves at bay for a long time. Even won that sportsbet game vs ardmona bush cats where they were accused of bringing in former players trying to win the prize money. (Ardmona have spent the last 2 years in recess and are looking to try and make a come back again for those interested)

No juniors has come back to bite them unfortunately. Looks like forest hill might not survive as long as Nuna did clawing away with minimal funds/no junior program.

Gonna need a plan to get back to four divisions

VAFA did the same this year, merged the two bottom divisions. Unfortunately there were some huge spankings, by the top four to the bottom 4. But at least with the two up model you aren't stuck with the same teams up the top for long.
