NOW to sometime later in the year (maybe) - Talk about anything

Absolute Bullshit if the League is trying to block players leaving. When Donvale folded in 2014, Doncaster came swooping in and Took their 6 best players from the previous under 19 premiership side in 2013 (they were all bottom age at the time). Only Rambaldi (Doncaster Captain) Molloy (Doncaster Vice Captain) and Munks (Multiple Leading Goal kicker) remain at Doncaster as Jones, Grocott and Dillon Returned in 2016. Vale have been trying to get them to return since coming back into the League but as they were mainly in Premier at the time it was a hard sell.
Think at the end of the day we all know the contracts may as well be written on a napkin barely legal binding documents.

Told by a good source this morning that Doncaster met with the league and told them they want out of Div 1. Wont be competitive, have lost too many players, are nowhere near fielding a competitive senior side and don't have the numbers to field a reserves.

Are working with the league to find the best solution. Hopefully things can turn around for them but not looking great.

You are spot on the money although one thing was missed. It is a possibility they may go into recess due to their current plight. I am told things are desperate and going into recess is potentially a likely option.

Really sad situation but according to the EFNL football in the league is in great shape.

Couldn’t be further from the truth.

The EFNL clubs will need to watch the sort of management they have in place. For decades now it’s been a powerhouse, on the up and up, growing. Things are changing now. Managing a league/organisation in decline and under threat is a very different game and not something that many in the board or management probably have much of an idea about.

They have brought in this club manager which does seem like a good move but you would have to say the CEO just hiring one of his mates (Heath Black) doesn’t exactly fill you with confidence.

Put aside this expansion shit - the time for it is well passed - and make the focus on strengthening the Eastern clubs. The #1 focus needs to be on growing Auskick and junior participation and ensuring the pathway for EVERY club.

Apparently the club has told the EFNL playing in Div 1 wont be an option and if that is set in concrete then they will go into recess for 2025 as the players/coaches have said they aren't prepared to play in Div 1.

Rambaldi, Molloy & Grocott played at Doncaster in 2014.
Munks played at East Burwood in 2014.
Pretty confident the other two never played at Doncaster.

Not sure what is currently happening & don’t want to make a call. The guys involved have enough on their plate.

Doncaster & Donvale have a healthy relationship. Personally know many of the old heads at the Valers & will have a beer & chat all times we meet whether that be at a game or at the races,
Great guys the old boy Valers.

On the question of the Players who are contracted and want out. If the club goes into a recess or to another Division. I'm no lawyer but I would suggest the club is then changing the contract terms and/or failing to fulfill said contract, then those contracts become null and void. Most of the player contracts I have seen have a lot of player obligations and very few club obligations. The contracts are binding but if what is suggested takes place I can see those players playing elsewhere. We will find out soon enough.

Correct. I thought Munks went in 2014 with them. Jones and Dillon were at Box Hill Hawks, this was back when they had the VFL reserves, so they were aligned with Doncaster, not sure if they ever played. Rambo was the same, he was at Collingwood VFL but he played most weeks in the VFL. Grocott and Molloy played in Doncasters Premiership from memory..
Speaking of the old Valer boys, they had a nice winner on Friday that won the Mount Gambier Gold Cup.

I'm tipping the EFNL to look totally different 20 years from now. There will be more clubs folding or merging as the numbers at junior level have dwindled due to changing demographics and soccer. Probably acquire more clubs from Outer East and Southern but even then I don't see a 5 division league with seniors, reserves and 19s.

Not so much soccer as cricket. The sub-continentals will choose cricket 95% of the time over any other sport.

It wouldn't be a crazy though that we would have some sort of cricket competition going, whether it be T20 or 40 overs a side, with a couple of grades.

As a ground is lost to football, it could quickly be claimed for cricket. That one ground could stage three T20s on a Saturday (10.00, 12.45, 2.30), so three grades of eight could use four grounds each match day - not impossible to imagine.

There is abit of winter cricket going on
Chirnside park has 2 teams. Play out of Gruyère. St Andrew’s had 2 teams but not this year. Llewelyn reserve in Scoresby they used. Wantirna south had a team.

Afew rdca clubs have shown interest so can see them starting 2026. Plenty of grounds to use. Obviously not quality but clubs 2nd an 3rd ground aslong as there not basins are fine

I hope not, the RDCA is already a mismanaged joke, it can’t handle the current clubs, no way they’d manage any more.

Not sure how great shape it is in or cricket in general for that matter.

Have heard a few clubs have lost interest in the 20/20 comp now that it's become open invite.

Adding the outer east clubs made some sense but not sure adding more Box Hill and FTG teams is a good thing.

Players who are not committed will not want to travel and will stay in the lower grades.

Already have enough clubs 2nd or third elevens smashing other clubs 5th/6th/7ths

3 brilliant grand finals in the top 3 divisions over the weekend.
Heatherdale and Vermont successfully intergrateted into the asssociation.
strong junior competition
Looks like the RDCA is going ok to me?

My son plays soccer at a bigger club out our way. Certainly a mix of numerous nations represented including many Asian & sub-continental kids. As a 4th generation Australian he is very much in the minority.

Cricket is the obvious but don’t discount the mixture of kids playing soccer in winter.

It’s a real battle.

RDCA is a very well run company. Issues only ever seem to occur when one of the bigger clubs wants to dictate what happens.

Finn does a good job but a few clubs have suffered with the arrival of more clubs and I feel adding more will be trouble for a few more clubs.

Wouldn't have to turn social media comments off towards the end of the season if everything was going smoothly.

How have they suffered?

Well, Lilydale need to be more convincing than just saying come play in the higher standard RDCA when they try to poach the best players from the Yarra Valley clubs now.
Mt ev have just gone upto the second tier.
Where in there about 3 seasons ago a where terrible.

So lilydale still can just “convince” players to play a higher standard by playing Trollope. In saying that the Yarra valley clubs money there paying I’m not sure why players would bother playing for less at a higher standard.

Interested to know who these well payed YV players are.
Or clubs for that matter.

In Melbourne there are 160 winter teams, Mens, Women's, Juniors and mixed Junior teams. Starts in late April and the final is held on the second last Saturday of August. Games consist of 35 overs and start at 12pm, finishing by 4:45pm. Games are usually played fortnightly, with the second weekend as a reserve day in case of inclement weather. Winter cricket began in 2010. Could be pretty dark by 4:45pm during winter.
