Re: James Randall

Its crap posts like this that ruin bigfooty.

Fools who like to slag off other people for a bit of fun...what sort of bloke does that make you mate?

how about giving crap posts like your last one a rest and getting back to the constructive stuff!

Well said, I enjoy reading Thistle's contribution to bigfooty.

There is no need to stoop that low.

Interersting to see the exodus from Fingal, a lot of good players, in fact the better half of their team... hope this doesn't undo all the hard work they've put in to getting out of recession but i have a funny feeling its going to put them right back near where they began.

Does this make it a one horse race? I'm a bit out of the loop atm but i see it hard for anyone else to match Old Scotch now...

The only other real challenger is Uni-Mowbray, have recruited a few from Regional VIC.

Fingal and Perth should be battling for 3rd and 4th, spoke to a few at Fingal and they say they have a few players recruited but losses of Spilsbury, Brittain and the Lowes will hurt. They are likely to have Bosworth back. Perth are steady but need Latham playing almost all of the season to challenge IMO.

You could probably throw a blanket over the rest of the field for 5th place. Perhaps Tamar Cats/St Pats/Evandale narrowly??? Too close to call.

I was under the impression that Bosworth was signed/sealed/delivered to Bracknell and that only Matty Lowe was heading to St Helens. Heath Lowe was cleaning up the cash at Fingal with the exodus. Can anybody confirm

Uni will def give the scotchies a run for there money

Well the season isnt to far away. any news on games being played or clubs gaining and lossing players, always see a heap come n go this time of year.

My tip is Uni Mowbray to surprise the Scothies

Re: James Randall

Well what can I say. You are basically a club Sl@T, you have gone from The thistles to their number one rival uni mowbray, and now i have seen thanks to sporting pulse you have asked for a clearance back to the scotchies. You are a joke mate. Anyway how many reserves games have you played in you muppet...?????

And can people please stop talking about Breadmore switching clubs, he is only human and has realised after playing against the likes of randal that he is more suited to playing with guys that actually have some sort of football brain and skill.

Anyway with old scotch having 80 blokes at training they should go back to back..

Go Evandale eagles the real deal in 2010...

yes after reading this seems a bit harsh on the lad. Even thought he has a game in the 2s of Div 2. must be better then the kind of person who couldnt get picked for The Gladstone Under 9s mate.

ALso please leave young Daniel along. he cant help he likes to drink goon, My sources tell me that you may of had a few sessions youself.

Well 2 days away, was hoping this thread wood be going off with stories,
Will be a an intresting year, seems like a few teams may pick up a bit and a few teams with some losses,

Ols picked up a few youngers, will they improve. i reakon they wont be as bad as b4, well we all hope not. but to all the teams this year, good luck n play hard

haven't heard much from the first round how did uni go with the recruits? are scotch still the team to beat? is the final 5 gonna be the same as last year?

From all appearances OLs a much improved side, still lacking depth through the 2s who had a good start then faded dismally. Hopefully something they can work on in years to come, but from what I saw this year shouldn't be as long as the last for the 1s.

Wayne Kirby absolutely spewing after the game, think he might underestimate how much they've improved! and in shithouse conditions too!

4 rounds in and it looks like it is going to be a two horse race in both the seniors and reserves unless anyone knows anything better? Uni Mowbray and Old Scotch are the only unbeaten teams in both grades and from what the papers say, have been winning quite easily, Scotch especially.

Can any other teams get close to these 2 sides this year?

Is this week a Grand Final preview? The Scotchies V Uni, big game, one team will have to go home with their first loss of the season. Old Scotch's form to date has been nothing short of clinical, average winning margin of almost 100 points, whilst Uni have gritted out a few tougher wins with some great form in quarters.
Key match ups will include Harvy (FB) vs Clayton/Wyngard (FF), Tucker v Colbeck at the other end and Lenton V Pedley in the middle. Uni could couse an upset if coach Kirby has been looking at the right textbooks this week and all things fall into place. Difficult however at NTCA.
My guess is Uni to stick with the thistles until after halftime then fade away as the all over the ground pressure from Old Scotch grinds them down.
Other matches will see Fingal run over the Saints, Perth to blow away the Cats, and Evandale should clean up angaist OL's, but will hopefully be a close hard fought game.
Thoughts? Has been exceptionally quiet for NTFA Div 2 posts this season

Reserves is all over (barring a huge huge surprise). Old Scotch with % of 670+ after 7 rounds! You might as well give them the premiership now in the magoos.

As for the Seniors...Uni are the only other team within a sniff of Scotch, the others aren't even close!

Nothing's a given.

When I was living in Launceston 30 odd years ago, I seem to recall a side two years in a row going unbeaten through the entire Amateur (as it was then) Reserve Grade season only to lose the GF.

And I am pretty sure it was Old Scotch.

I'm happy to be corrected if my memory is failing me though. :)

That sounds about right actually. Old Scotch reserves actually lost by 7 points to St Pats today (they lost to the same side last year in the roster season). Certainly anything is possible but you would be a very brave person to write off the men from Zippidee doo daa yet!

does anyone no if there are any games when the lions and hawks play?. last week did the central against perth for like the 3rd week in a row and they nearly bet Old S. just lost by 4 points, and then flogged perth and Edale.

Good luck to all in finals. I'm just trying to get my head around the actual finals structure, is this correct?

First Round
Minor Premiers - Bye
Game 1: 2nd v 3rd
Game 2: 4th v 5th

Second Round
Game 3: Minor Premiers v Winner Game 1 - Winner goes to GF
Game 4: Loser Game 1 versus winner Game 2

Third Round
Game 5: Loser Game 3 v Winner Game 4 - Winner to GF

Fourth Round
Grand Final: Winner Game 3 v Winner Game 5

I didn;t attend the game, but I have been told that Old Scotch Seniors kept Fingal scoreless in the GF Today. Scotch 68 to Fingal 0.0.00...WOW! They also won the Reserves! A big night at the NTCA me thinks!!!:thumbsu:

I see in the Examiner Today that Nathan "Buzz" Howard has been appointed coach of St Patrick's Old Boys. Any thoughts? Who may he bring with him?

Not sure if he'll bring many, I heard a few years ago that he was already loosely associated with the club? I would think that means his contacts are already there, and I would also assume that it was more a case of them chasing him for a role than him applying for one? Don't quote me though, just my assumptions...

Hey, if I really suck at footy and just want to play for a bit of fun, no sheep stations, is this the league for me? Or is there a lower league in the Launceston area? I can't really be bothered with all the aggro and macho crap that goes on in some clubs. Just want to have a kick and some fun. Any advice would be appreciated.
