Ask him...they wouldnt have a clue. Stu might, but very doubtful.
Just to break it down for you.
Commitee- administration, finances, problem solving,
Coach - training, match day, running of players. Our match commitee (we dont really have as stu will ask an opinion when needed, we do trust him very much as it is his job) is our three coaches plus nick.
We dont involve the coach or anyone else in the running of the club because ultimately the coach is there to coach and play in stuarts circumstance. As for recruiting Stuart spoke to who he thought was valuable then approached commitee about what is needed to be done.
Sounds like a fairly good model for a club. Would be a lot easier for someone to coach in this environment, when there only concern is to actually coach and play, and not having to raise sponsorship money, negotiate contracts with each player, organise social functions, organise major fundraisers/raffles and basically run the club day to day, which the committee should be doing.
Heyfield is to be applauded, and as you have previously stated, they have been successful using this model, and should continue along like this. I am not having a backhanded swipe at Heyfield, I am honestly saying that if clubs are capable of having this type of assistance available to them, then this will help the club to continue to grow, develop and be successful.
On the contrary, when you are senior coach, at a club without a support network like this, and you are required to do all those things listed above, which both you, I and everyone else all recognise this should not be the responsibility of the senior coach, it is tough to have to listen to knockers having a go at you, when you have attempted to do all these things, and probably have been the main resistance between the club going into recess and surviving.
