I hope Mark Stevens hasn't retired yet. I was planning on travelling to Gippsland on weekends to watch him this year... a Crows supporter never forgets their past star players! I heard he was moving back to Heyfield full time. Any truth to that rumour?

Sorry mate, Mark hasn't hasn't been selected to play tomorrow. Talk is he will do what he has the last few seasons. He will play 5 or 6 games then finals. If you do go and watch Heyfield his brother Andrew goes really well.

Gormandale look like they may be a contender this year under Steve Hazelman - despatched of Rosedale with ease. Too bad for Gormy he will probably only be there for this season so they better make the most of it.

Gormy a condenter. Bloody hell, Outright favorites. Talk around the league all pre season is who will they beat in the Grand final. That talk has also come from players and supporters from Gormy as well.

Cougars maul Roos
Lauren Carey

CHURCHILL spoiled the party for reigning North Gippsland football premier Heyfield with a blistering second term.

Premiership flags wafting over proceedings were nothing but a distant memory for Heyfield as the seniors failed to make an impact on the match.
Mitch Dowse made his presence felt early weaving his way around the man to kick the opening goal for the premiers.
Churchill was quick to respond to the challenge through Mark Glowery.
Intense body work saw neither side being able to score, that was before Heyfield's Lyell Berry kicking the first of his two majors.
Churchill responded quickly with Chris Johnson scoring.
Soon after Daniel Hawking gave the Cougars a one-goal lead at quarter-time.
Hawking kicked his second goal early in the second term.
Churchill's pressure was immense as Heyfield struggled to string together passages of play.
The Kangaroos kicked their only goal of the term in the final minutes, cutting the Cougars' half-time lead to 34.
The Kangaroos fought back immediately after the break, Nathan Wellins and Stevens combining with Mitch Dowse to goal.
Berry added Heyfield's second in as many minutes.
For every challenge Heyfield mounted in the final term the Cougars responded, Nathan McDonald booted his second goal to extend the lead to 43.
Hawking later booted his sixth goal.
It was the pace of the Cougars that clearly troubled the premiers with Churchill winning 14.11 (95) to 8.11 (59).

GORMANDALE confirmed its early favoritism for the flag by kicking six goals to one in the opening half against Rosedale.
The new-look Blues' line-up could do very little to stop playmakers Leigh Cummins and Steve Hazelman, who were among the Tigers' most productive.
A third quarter revival saw the young Blues rally to out-score Gormandale, however the damage had already been inflicted as the Tigers won 12.20 (92) to 8.6 (54).

A FRANTIC opening half set the tone for an enthralling battle between Cowwarr and Sale City, which the Saint won by 12 points.
With Cowwarr leading by 26 points at half-time, the Bulldogs kicked nine goals after the break as the Saints' legs began to wilt but they finished two goals short when the siren sounded, 16.16 (112) to 14.17 (101).
Johnston was named among the best for the Saints, with recruit Marcus Pilgrim also impressing in his first game.

A RECORD crowd saw Boisdale-Briagolong defeat host Stratford.
The Bombers booted seven goals in the opening term to lay the foundation for their 17.11 (113) to 10.12 (72) victory.
Former Maffra players Matt and Lee Forsyth and Winston Gieschen starred for their new club, tallying possessions as the new-look outfit gelled together.
The Swans showed plenty of improvement of their own, with forwards Dale Pendergast and Tim Light kicking three goals each.

GLENGARRY laid the foundation for its 16.13 (109) to 12.8 (80) win over Traralgon-Tyers United with a four-goal to one second quarter.
The match was evenly placed at the first change with TTU leading by four points, but the Magpies' solid second term helped them get the points. Josh King was the Magpies' stand-out forward for the match kicking five goals.

What do you mean by "he will only be there for this season"? What have you heard?

Apparently he was approached by Traralgon to play (and near every club in the area) when he got back but declined as he wanted to coach but Lane still had 1 season left on his contract. Rumour has it he may be bookmarked for the coaching position at Traralgon next season. This was before the start of the year when he got back home so obviously things may change between now and the years end, but it would be hard for someone with Steve's competitive nature to decline an offer to coach his home club.

Love to hear how Woodside is going? I've seen the results, but what about numbers/supporters etc?
I went to Boisdale on Saturday and the crowd was huge , apparnetly a record gate. Boisdale had their past players but there seemed to be plenty of support for the Wildcats. Heaps of people around the three qtr time huddle. I reckon the result flatters Boisdale. The cats had 3 shots on goal late in the third and all scored behinds. They will win some games this year. Other teams better not take them lightly.

How do you think Glengary will go ! are they up tp beating Gormandale?
Not sure. I havn't seen them live yet. Have a great fwd in King, Solid down back with Sizeland. Do they have the midfield to go with Gormy? Will find out next weekend. Sunday May 11th

Seen Glen V Gormy game If Glen kicked straight at finish would have got over the line, it was a good close game considering everybody seem to think that Gormy have flag in the bag with there highly paid recruits this year.
Boisy have picked some good players from Maffra and should also be competitive through year.
