Obscure Players That You Remember

Jeff "Goldy" Wilson - plodding NZ one-day allrounder who only got a game because he was an All Black

Rawl Lewis - West Indian, possibly the worst specialist legspinner ever to play Test cricket

Hiral Patel - Canadian opener who belted a quick 50 against Australia at the 2011 World Cup

Balaji Rao - another 2011WC star for Canada, obese legspinner who wasn't too bad actually

How obscure are some of the Zimbo blokes like Gavin Ewing and Neil Johnson and Trevor Gripper?

Not that obscure but I was surprised to recently hear that Mohammad Sami is still playing
Neil Johnson was a pretty fair player - Zimbots had a very good side and then they all exited the country;

A best ever Zimbabwe side would be dominated by mid-to-late 90s players.

What ever happened to Peter George? Tall lanky fast bowler who made his debut in India 2010 and got Tendulkar as his first wicket I think?

Plays for QLD in the shield these days.

South Africa loved their obscure players! Zondecki I would include, though to be fair he ended with a Test bowling average of 25!

I'll see your Monde Zondeki, and raise you a Mfuneko Ngam!

Glenn Trimble. Was supposed to be the next Aussie allrounder. But he couldn't hit the pitch and only bowled 4 overs before being flicked. Amazingly, he played one more ODI as a specialist batsman. All up, his batting career lasted 5 balls.

On a similar note Paul Rofe had good wraps on him, not sure if he ever played an ODI or not.

I remember Manou standing up to the stumps when keeping to Rofe.

South Australia has a lot of young players coming through at the same time - Tait, Cullen, Cullen Bailey, Rofe, Cleary, Ferguson, Cosgrove, Skews, Borgas - none of them have ever amounted to anything.
