Joel Bowden's AA spot is well deserved however, why the hell is he the CHB when Craig Bowden is there. If you are selecting a best 22 you wouldn't put Craig on the half back flank and tell him to rebound and put Bowden on the likes of Hall, you'd do it the other way around.

That is a very good point, but maybe they just wanted to point out to all the d&*$head Bowden bashers that he did actually take the best opposition forward each week and wasn't just getting cheap kicks.

Not so fussed other Dockers missed out. the 9 straight really was a team effort all round. Jeffery unlucky but I'm sure he doesn't give a rats clacker. McPharlin has been stellar since dropping back, but spent too long as a very average forward to be a chance.

I think you need to start well, get in the AA selectors eye, then not get injured or have a shocking 2nd half. JUst steady will do the job. It is hard to dislodge the players who start with a bang.

9 straight, then winningthe flag after a 1st up loss will do me fine instead of more AA:)

Good team.

The AA selectors have real problems with CHB though - Croad last year, Bowden this year.

(Cox-6) > (Simmonds-1)

Chapman for Didak.
Chapman for Didak any day of the week for mine. (And I'm not a Didak hater.)

He is the cats number one player, and the first guy any opposition coach thinks of when they prepare for the cats.

Also - anyone who looks at the quality in this team will realise why a year's worth of bleating about Gram and Swan is rubbish. No room for them whatsoever.

I had no idea the rest of the bullies line up was so poor that they could have 3xAA and stumble into 8th! what is it 4WCE, 3 Syd, 3 Adel, and then a smattering of others, and then 3xWB!!!

Yes I should have assumed there were simple folk on here so I'll go slower this time;)

WCE finished top and got 4 spots
Adelaide 2nd and got 3 spots
Swans 4th and got 4 spots (sorry I said 3 last time)

then the rest of the teams had 1 if lucky, port had 2, but Bulldogs were surprisingly well represented considering they were at the bottom of the 8. Hence I state that I didn;t realise the rest of their side was so bad, when they can have such high AA representation and still only just make the 8.

The Dogs have always had plenty of individual performers, Johnson and West are long established and Gilbee back up his excellent 2005 with another great year.

I don't really think it's an issue.

I really wasn't suggesting that the doggies players didn't deserve the gig! I was merely pointing out that it highlights that they must have some shortcomings around the park to have not finished higher with 3 top performers. I guess when you then consider that they lost so many big men earlier in the year through injury - you have to look and wonder what might have been. Ok what still could be but it is fanciful thinking for most clubs still in it to think they are more than a long-shot.

Fool, it's called consistent injuries to key players throughout the year. For the bulldogs to finish 8th, win an elimination final and go onto the semis is a great effort. Clearly, you need to watch the bulldogs a bit more.

I covered injuries last post. Maybe my initial emphasis was a tad harsh - I should go to bed:) Hey who doesn't love the doggies?

Hall kicked 5 on Bowden, didn't he?

He kicked 2 on Bowden in Round 16, despite the ball being pumped relentlessly into the Swans forward line. In the Round 7 thrashing Hall did get 5 but played deep in the forward line as Richmond were without Gaspar, Thursfield, Kellaway and Hall. I don't even think Wallace started Bowden on him that day, as Roosy was clearly trying to take Bowden out of the game.

From memory, I believe Bowden was switched onto him after a couple of early goals, leaving O'keefe and O'Loughlin to run amok across half forward under the watchful eye of those veteran backmen Luke McGuane and Daniel Jackson. Notably, the Swans kicked 28 goals in that game.

Russell Robertson (Injured) flogged Bowden because Bowden was busy picking up cheap dinky kicks to keep his stats up. Robbo hardly saw him all night!

That's really the one game Bowden lowered his colors this season. But it wasn't due to Joel "picking up cheap dinky kicks", it was just that Robbo was too good for him on the night. Don't understate the performance of your own players - Robbo was on fire. In hindsight, Bowden should have taken Neitz.

Interestingly, Lindsay Gilbee seems to escape all of these accusations of non-accountability and soft possessions. He's managed a massive 7 contested possessions all season, including one finals game.

Maybe some misdirected animosity at work here.

Seems like the only ones that really view Bruce as being unlucky are non Melbourne supporters. He has had some quite bad off games and has made some silly mistakes. Luckily he seems to always bring out some top games to make up for it (vs Bulldogs and Saints spring to mind) so an AAT selection would be worthy but his exclusion isn't mystifying or overly worrying for me at least.

That's quite an achievement.
