The Great One rumoured to be the one honoured with lighting the flame in a few hours. Probably a good call, although one would've hoped for a BC native.

Super Joe is a good call, an actual BC native, an actual Olympian, and gold medal winner at that.

Word is some sort of projection or hologram of Terry Fox is the go. Would be bloody moving if Terry's somehow involved in the thing, which starts pretty soon by my watch.

I would have got Super Mario, but that's just me.

Ziggy Palffy carried Slovakia's, and Jaromir Jagr carried the Czech's. As well as the Wayne Gretzky lighting the torch. It's all about the hockey really.

Is Jags playing for the Czechs? He might be getting on a bit but if they use him sparingly he might be able to snag a few goals for them.

I hope the same refs that are doing the womens games aren't doing the mens because I just saw the worst call of the tournament so far (not hard seeings as it has been going for ten minutes but whatever). The Slovaks had a delayed penalty coming against them as the Canadians came in on net but the Slovak defender touched the puck and pretty much put it in her own net and they let the goal stand.

How they didn't see her touch the puck is beyond me.

Wasn't expecting Palffy and Jagr and seeing Foppa carrying the Swedish flag was awesome :thumbsu:

And don't forget Tommy Jakobsen carried the flag for Norway. Obviously not as well known, but again, another hockey player :)

Sweden just look damn scary.

Kronwall looks like he'll play, so that's a wonder for their D.

But Franzen has now come in for Holmstrom, so along with the Sedins, Backstrom Foppa, Alfredsson, Zetterberg, Hornqvist, Eriksson, they will be very dangerous.

I am looking for your help. We are a small group of Canadians expat living in Adelaide looking to meet in a pub for 2 of the hockey games:
Sun 21st USA vs CAN
Sun 28th Gold Medal Final

Do anyone know if pubs in Adelaide have the olympic coverage from Foxtel?
We called a lot of places around and they seem to only have the basic Fox sport channel (not upgraded for the Olympics).

If anyone knows of places that have this coverage, please let me know.
Thanks

Have you tried Adelaide Casino? If they don't have it, I doubt many others would. Its not a big popular thing here so many wouldnt spend the money to get the Olympics on foxtel. You might get lucky and have it on Channel 9, but no one can trust their telecast.

Thanks, didn't think about the Casino, will try that. If anyone else have been to pubs in Adelaide that had Olympic coverage, let me know.

Personally, I am happy to download, but for a group of 15-30, getting together for the live coverage in a pub would be great!

I stated in the other thread that I am falling in love with Canadian player Meghan Agosta. And she can really play. 5 point (3 g, 2 a) in the first game.

Haha, we Google'd her too after watching the game, her photos dont do her justice, she looks hotter while playing. :D

The Canadian women's team are very, very good, regardless of the standard of women's hockey in general...if you've ever tried playing you'll realise how skilled they are.

Going to be epic on Tuesday when the big fellas play, watch out Norway!
