I think what we have seen with these 9 games, is that those in that half back role, should be a big increase in fantasy output. And there's heaps of them in that 300-400k range. you could legit have 4-5 of them in your back 6.
This could be the season defining call I reckon. 2 ways to go here. While everyone’s mids are of similar structure this year it looks like which path you take with defenders really defines how the rest of the team sets up:

Option 1: Like you said go heavy on the 300-400k type defense which gives the coin to bat deeper up fwd with mid price types like Caldwell.

Option 2: Go the big gun def with 3-4 of Lloyd/Laird/Stew/Z Will/Short/Daniel which likely means 2 of Bergman/Brockman/Warner types on field up fwd, all of which have shown promise mind you.

There’s definitely merit in both plays and to me its still far from clear what the optimal will end up being.

To anyone considering Brodie, I got sucked in last year and only for him to be dropped after rnd 1. Really stuffed my team around early

Yes same, Stewie Dew doesn't like the bloke. He'd be a better option than Caldwell I think but Bevo treats Dunkley better than Dew treats Brodie.

Have you been looking at my team?

Laird/Stewart/Short currently in the backline.

Bergman/Warner currently on field in the forwards.

I'm not 100% on Short yet, but if not him, it will probably be another premo.

Bit of a swap.. wasn't sold on Rowell even before today. Coming off the surgery and a condensed pre, swapped Clark into the mids and duggan basically into d3 for Rowell. Like the role, game style obv suits. Duggan spent most of the summer in my team anyway - so my head is justifying it that way

Good call. It seems to me like everyone has just remembered those couple of Rowell tons last year and thought “lock”, but when you break it down is he really that much of a great pick?

4-5 game sample
75 price tag
Poor team
Essentially a first year rookie still
Off season surgery
Starts with WCE in Perth

He’s 574k which isn’t that cheap imo

I like Serong slightly better than Cerra for upside but am worried about second year blues.
I’d go option 1 as well for its safety and the fact Stewart is a guarantee to be top 6. If you really like the look of serong after one or two games could always trade cerra down to him for a cash grab ? Assuming you have a luxury trade

Worked all weekend and just caught up on like 30+ pages of information... My brain trying to process everything

I'm just working through the short list of combinations now...
