Nick Miller has been chosen as the Marcellin captain, ahead of James Tantis-Hall, Eamon Jenkins and Jamie bain who are all vice/deputy vice captains.

PEGS won by 90 something points I believe. They were just too good in the first 3 quarters but Camberwell hit back in the last and showed a bit. I'm pretty sure Maric kicked 10 in a very impressive performance. From Camberwell, Sinclair kicked 6 including 5 in the last quarter. If he was a bit taller you'd think he'd get drafted but those extra few inches don't look like they're going to come.

In summary, PEGS look a very, very good side and it's hard to see them losing a game this year. Camberwell showed they have a bit with a gutsy last quarter but their lack of depth was shown and probably exemplified by a few selection errors.

Thanks for that. CAn you tell me how Trengrove and Joyce went?

Sorry mate, I'm not as familiar with who those two are. It's hard to recall a PEGS player playing badly they were so good and considering those two are obviously top players, I'd expect them to have played very well. Maric was the standout for them though, Camberwell's coach was actually proud of the bloke that kept him to 10 goals.

Marcellin defeated Bendigo Catholic College by 10 goals in there first hearald sheild game.. does anyone have any other ags herald sheild results?

Yarra Valley beat Ivanhoe this week in a come from behind win.

Ivanhoe were up at all breaks yet with a good wing Yarra rallied to win, not before Ivanhoe had one final chance.

A mark on the siren then what was meant to be a 50m (really about 15m) penalty was awarded, Ivanhoe player went back and missed the shot.

Ivanhoe lost by 1 point

todays results?? all teams and there best plz!..
today ack beat mentone.. forget the score but but ack won by about 30 points.. but won the game by half time and only kicked 3 after the main break.. best for ack were clifton, marc, groves, armstong and sheean (left the ground in the 3rd quater with knocked out teeth!)... wont be out for long coz one tough customer (like how i said customer?)

Haha, i was playing in the 3rds match just before that, playing for peninsula, man we suck :p

Round 2

Ivanhoe - Yarra Valley
Peninsula - Camberwell
PEGS - Trinity
Assumption - Mentone

Easy wins on the table for Ivanhoe and Peninsula. Trinity look ok this year but will get destroyed by a dominant PEGS outfit. Assumption v Mentone should be very interesting.

What are the games for round 1?

some ppl on this forum eating their words?!?...yarra by a point!

best players for yarra valley: gysberts, debney, mattarazzo, mills, moore, king

I agree with you mate, I used to go to an aps school, so I don't know a huge amount about the ags comp. A guy I know at Ivanhoe told me that they'd thump Yarra, obviously underestimated them, and they also told me Assumption were nothing special, I guess they proved that wrong as well. Should be an even comp this year though.

Yarra is on a role this year, and marcellin are gonna have to put up a big fight to topple them this week. They should be warned that the umpires will be shit.
Number 16 for Ivanhoe should be playing 3rds

if yarra beat ivanhoe by a point and by the way were outplayed all day and marcellin beat ivanhoe by 100 im fairly sure that marcellin wont have to worry about yarra valley.

does anybody have any news or results on camberwell this yr?

You are right that there will be plenty of opportunities for Year 10 boys at Ivanhoe. Gianfagna is a good player but sometimes directs his aggression at the opposition - he was sent off last year as a Year 9 player roughing up the Marcellin firsts! Gualano will be in England playing cricket for a large part of the footy season though. Walsh is a lot fitter - the Knights experience has helped there! Moio will definitely play. The problem at Ivanhoe is a lack of good footballers at Year 11 level. Aside from Walsh, Brunelli, Kingsford and Farrentino no one else knows what a footy looks like. Fortunately, the Year 10 group can play though.

What about ryan buckingham? he takes a very nice mark and extremely courageous. almost won the game for ivanhoe on friday if not dropped a mark in the goal square in the last seconds of the game

mentone a surprise package stayed with assumption lost by 5 goals but missing few names...... they arnt finals contention but top 4 is debatable......
