If Perkins wants to get to Moore's level he needs to work way harder, Moore is one of the hardest workers in the game, he's seriously good.I don't think football IQ and being a straight-line player are mutually exclusive. Stringer has fantastic tools to be a straight-line player, and with the broken leg in juniors has never really been able to play as a full-time midfielder so we don't know exactly what he could have been like playing as a full-time midfielder, or if he'd still be what he is anyway.
That 'striker' role they talked about a lot a little while back is basically a powerful MID/FWD playing as a straight-line player.
It's not necessarily a negative, it's just whether you have the tools to make it work or not. Perkins takes the game forward and direct, as a half forward that can still be a really powerful skill to bring to the table.
A player like Moore at Hawthorn might be a good comparison, he made the AA side this year averaging; 19d, 5m, 1.4g, 4t, 4 i50s
Perkins was at 15 / 3 / 0.3 / 3.7 / 3.3 this year, but has gone at 0.9 goals in a previous season. So he's got the potential IMO.
I think Perkins right now is content with getting a game, Scott should've dropped him to the VFL early last year to send the message.
