Obviously the leading goal kicker in the 1's will come from the obvious candidates in: Saad, Mench, Grainger and co, but im interested to hear whom is favourite for the two's?? Can Brad Bishop recapture form and more importantly will team mates (including nick lane) hand ball shots at goal to help him achieve a remarkable 2nd goal kicking award?

Bishop's never really been out of form; his problems over the past two seasons have been hamstrings that don't want to stay in tact for any longer than a month at a time and a chunky coach with an aversion to giving him much game time.

Re: Official GVFL thread

Dont know enough about the sides brother but Echuca defientley arent one team i dislike. Dylan Butler is a cracking bloke so all the best to those boys.

At this stage from what i hear the Shepp sides get all my 3 votes in no particular order.

cheers

Re: Official GVFL thread

it's been a while since i ran around in the gv but i'll continue the trend anyway.
3. Shepp united
2. Shepp bears

I think that harlf time lollies is stilla bit upset that his side didnt win the grandfinal, i carnt blame you.. but that is still no need to take it out on random ppl. That was a poor performance on your behalf, we may not be up to your exceptional level of posting(bah ha) but we dont spin crap all day long. Thats a good idea of starting a new poll of biggest heck w i t because from what i have seen so far you would be at the top of most ppls list. Just have a think before you speek next time, you might thank your self for it!!!

Uncletoby you are very wrong old diamond I do not follow the mudlarks. Who says that I spin crap all day long anyway? I posted my opinion on a forum which last time I checked wasn't against the law. I doubt very much that I would be at the top of most peoples biggest heck w i t list bar yours and Echuca Boy's. Maybe next time you post on big footy you should use a spell check... you will most likely learn how to use this in grade 4 computing!!

Keep up the good posts legend:thumbsu:

Pretty certain Mensch has gone back down Geelong way, Ricky Symes won it last year didnt he? With #12 Maher ining up in the two's at Euroa in 2006, Bishop could end up a lot shorter in the betting. I heard Nick Lane was going with former coach Jago to his WRFL club.

Yeah i heard those two were pretty close mates, that doesn't suprise me

Re: Official GVFL thread

The hated clubs thing is a good topic - im casting my mind back to 3rds and 2's days at the Lions to think of the most hated clubs:

3 votes: Shepp Swans. There was nothing better than beating a shepp side, and to knock these blokes off a couple of times during my time was no exception to the rule. Also after seeing that Video of what their coach did last year, they've go the chockies by a street.

2 Votes: Shepp United.

1 Vote: Shepp Bears.

the team I used to enjoy playing against the most was Rochy. Rochy was always a tough but fair game, which im sure Brad Rowe and Jmain14 would agree with, and the majority of contests were always close.

Re: Official GVFL thread

I share the same opinion as echuca boy and others on their hatred for shepp sides. only problem is that I can't split them, so for the 6 votes that we are allowed I am going for:
1.5 to each of the 3 shepp sides and 'gozling'.

Friendship lures Best to Cattery

Shepparton News

Goulburn Valley Football League representative midfielder Jarrod Best has bypassed his former club Shepparton Swans in favour of Mooroopna.
Best, who spent the past two seasons with Eastern Football League club Doncaster, made the move to the Cats to play alongside close mates Brad and Blake Campbell.

He played for the GVFL against Ovens and Murray Football League in 2000 under Rochester coach Dave Williams.

Despite having strong ties to the Swans - his younger brother Hayden is an integral member at the club - the 26-year-old could not be happier at the Cats.

"My employment made be come back to the area and I still wanted to play GV," Best said.

"My older brother Daniel and my younger brother played at the Swans, but I've been mates for ages with Brad and Blake Campbell.

"I thought this was the right time to play with Brad before he retired."

Best has not ruled out reuniting with brother Hayden in the future, but said it would probably be in a different league.

"It is probably going to be a bit of a step up (from Doncaster) with the amount of training you have to do," he said."It's going to be a challenge, but I'm looking forward to it. It'll be good."

Cats coach Derek Hall is likely to use Best across half-forward and as a pinch-hitter in the midfield.

With Mooroopna already signing former Carlton defender Karl Norman and Wodonga onballer Nick Aloi, Best's addition should help make the Cats a fairly potent mix.

"I'll probably play across halfforward, but he (Hall) said once I get my fitness up that I could float into the midfield," he said.

The Cats' first game is against Tatura on April 15.

Only bloke I have ever actually seen cry on the football field. Was trying to tag one of our players one day and Murray Peel had a bit of a push and shove with him then ended up giving him a little jab on the cheek. Stood there sobbing with tears rolling down his cheeks for about 5 minutes while all our players (and some of his) laughed at him. Needless to say, his tagging became a little loose after that incident...

Still, was a handy GV senior player back then, anyone know how he went in the EFL???

I believe 1 of these players you are talking about EB has lodged a clearance with the GVFL (see tranfers list). A bloke by the name of Stephen White who actually played at Wagga Tigers last year but prior to this was at Sturt. Don't know alot about him but if he's played SANFL footy must go alright!!

2 - Shepparton - believe their own bulldust
1 - Rochester - precious

3 - Mansfield (have always hated them, but not really sure why. Perhaps it's because they have the worst football oval the world has ever seen)
2 - Shepparton (bunch of arrogant tossers, especially their reserves)
1 - Echuca (always good to beat them after they take all of our money in council rates and then spend it on things for Echuca, ie - new swimming pool)

Yeah, we had some pretty good battles over the years. Seymour were always my bogey side. I never got a kick against them. I do recall playing against a really tall guy with red hair and a knee brace. Ring any bells?

Played 100+ games at Sturt and in 2002 Premiership side. Played mainly as a Full Forward/Centre Half Forward.

Fair call re their ground Bradrowe, it's as good a reason as any. It'd be a fair old trek from Rochy to Mansfield too.
