Re: Official GVFL thread

I don't think its the person your talking about Morphous.

Who's your brother having a run a round with up there next year?

The player in Questions is a one of Lucas White's best mates. Played with him at Port Adelaide. He play with Swan Districts last year and is currently playing in Darwin with Saint mary's.

And yes there is another pair of brothers playing playing at princess park in 2008.

And yes Craig Statham from 2006 will be back in late Feb!

I knew about Whitey's brother and for those wondering yes Damian Yze is a Swan for 2008.

Not sure who exactly my Brother's playing with.

Re: Official GVFL thread

i believe the guy uwish is talking about would be Karl Lohde.. Small and stocky on baller with a big motor.. Has played alot of top level footy. I have Seen him play and he is a jet! Big get for swans if he does sign up.

Re: Official GVFL thread

are they still training uwish having an extended training session

Pretty sure Morpheous already stole Uwish's thunder.
I'm tipping the signing of Damien Yze would have been the gun he was alluding to.
Big get for the Swans.
Given he lives in Melbourne (and i doubt he's be moving back to Shepp) the Swans so-called $300 salary cap for a player might be out the window.

Yze - any SP out there willing to lay preseason odds, I am prepared to have a crack at the Swans if this latest signing is on the money.

I can tell you that Yze is on $300 no more.

If it is Karl Lohde he will be a good addition to the swans - multiple representitive with the ntfl in Darwin and has been a regular interleague rep with the Wimmera fl when he was at Dimboola, also got a call up on Geelongs vfl list a couple of seasons ago as a top up player when they were basically running on empty due to injuries etc etc.

Yeah it is Karl Lohde. will be a big inclusion for the swans.

as for Yze- he is on on the $300 but like any player that travels will be helped out with travel costs. and will be eligable for the extra $200 for getting in the best.

Oh I get it now.
$300 play
$300 travel
$200 incentive
$300 misc expences (board, food, drin.......)
-----
= $300 per game and NOT a cent more!

Your right it does add up to $300 a game.:D

Lets look at this

lets say on average 13 players @ $300 every week x 18 rounds = $70,200
the next 8 players at $200 which averages out x 18 rounds = $28,800
Travel for 12 players @$150 dependant on training x 18 rounds = $32,400
Miscellaneous expenses for the playing group of $200 x 18 rounds = $3600
Awards for the year x 18 rounds = $18,000

Now plus Coach $20K
Plus miscellaneous coaching costs including reserves and thirds coaches 15K, chairman of selectors phone bills etcetc.

$188,000 roughly ( but I wont be under as it would be possibly more) just to get a team to play on a saturday if the incessant $300 per game per player is correct

This does not include any of the trainers, runners , tape, footies, rent , food and other bills the club incurrs.

You would be well into the 200K mark to get an accurate figure oon what is being spent.

How long is this level of spending viable as I reckon at least 6-8 clubs would be operating on nearly half this if not less?

The swans better win one soon as the money wont last forever.

Have a look at the swans playing list, currently no one travel allowances as all our players live in Shepp.
This season so far we have 2 players, so by saying 12 its a bit exagerated.
Also the rest of the playing group wouldn't be on $200 or even close to that.

As far as paying players the swans top 3 players would be on less money than any club in the GVFL.

And after all that money you added up for players etc the club actually made a profit in 2007 so it looks like they are going to be able to keep it up for alot longer yet!

And Damien wanted to play at the Swans to play alongside his Brother not for money.

If Singh is all about self as sooo many have reported, Dirty will absolutely cain him ( mentally and if needs be physically) and he will either come around or will be gone before clearances close mid season.
Most of the players who have played at Rochester in Dirty's time had to commit to so many weekends in Rochester and putting some money back in and I would think he will add some sort of clause to cover the get out of the car and then get back in when footy is finished.
If he does his job an kicks goals and plays well, socialises if he has the ability to do so and doesnt stick his neck out it wont get chopped off.

Re: Official GVFL thread

pretty sure yze will stay at east burwood. hes a good bloke but he loves the coin big time. there is no way he would play at the swans for 300 thats about a 500 pay cut from east bwood.he has made a fortune from suburban footy and cricket...good luck to him
