Would it really matter? If you think it stick by it. That's cool man. Different opinions are good. Make a case, back it up, discuss it etc.

Just annoying to read sometimes. But I agree in the sense that everyone is entitled.

Completely disagree that we lack young talent in the forward line though, I am actually very excited for progress next year. Not a big "lets fix it quick" sort of guy, this is where we clash.

Yeah see I don't really think I am a quick fix guy either. Maybe it's the coach in me. Not sure. But I am sorry if I've been annoying to read. I'll tone it down sorry mate :)

Stop being so nice, making me feel like an arse. I just oppose with you a lot, I like how you go about it though, far more mild mannered than myself. Ill get better with time.

Nah man no way
Okay I took up the challenge. Was a fun exercise acutally :D I chose 2007-2009 as they were the last uncompromised drafts.

FB: H.Hartlett P.Davis C.Yarran
HB: J.Trengove L.Henderson B.Cunnington
C: T.Scully T.Cotchin S.Hill
HF: S.Sidebottom M.Kreuzer D.Martin
FF: P.Dangerfield M.Hurley C.Rioli
Ruck: N.Natanui D.Rich J.Ziebell
Bench: B.McEvoy C.Masten A.Morabito G.Rohan
Emg: T.Vickery J.Melksham R.Palmer

Depth players: B.Sheppard J.Butcher A.Moore J.Gysberts K.Lucas J.Watts L.Johnston C.Morton J.Grant D.Myers P.Vespremi

I'm sorry but there is no way that team never plays finals :p

Great work mate! that list is actually scary aye. But mate you've completely missed my point. If those guys had gone to the one club as opposed to established clubs, they wouldn't be half the players they are now.

Gee, I can't agree with that.
100% Agree with this post. Only, and I mean the ONLY, sport this doesn't apply to is NBA Basketball.

Look at how many low round or undrafted players have been mega stars just because they were overlooked, and look at how many highly draft picks were a wash out in this and many other leagues.

Are we though? Seems like every highly rated youngster we've picked up is a midfielder!

Yeah True you got some good mids. So the suns are doing some things right. Suns have 2 experienced defenders in Bock and Warnock. A fully fit Bock would help the suns Defence.

Bennell is a good ball magnet but also a handy goal kicker as well. The main positive about the Suns goal scoring is that The suns are not relying on one guy but rather a few Forwards and Some goal scoring mids like Ablett and Bennell.

Sometimes Quantity is better than Quality. As much as Some teams love To have a Buddy Franklin kicking 90 goals a season. Its just as good having 3 guys kick 30 goals each a season. If a player like Buddy Franklin gets injured, you lose a player that kicks 3-5 goals a game.

We've got Broughton now as a flank half back, as well as Tom Murphy to take on a small forward, but Bock may be out and play out the year somewhat like Josh Fraser this year. We have no one to replace him really, to take on the oppositions best forward week to week.

I doubt Suns will play bock as a part time ruckman. Suns will probrably recruit well in this years draft anyway.

I totally agree with your comment.

Ruck stocks are completely full at the momemt.

Murphy & Broughton are sensational recruits for the age, experience and position they play. A HBF and tough midfielder will really toughen and straighten up the team.

It is a fine balance with winning and blooding players at any team.

IMO the Suns will be attempting to get valuable game experience into all players, but in particular the KPF. KPD and the ruckmen.

My thoughts on this are that if you look at the recent delistings, a huge majority are those small-mid sized players. Smaller players often get opportunities earlier, but are turned over at a larger number due to the availablity and the list constraints. (Richmond's Nasson(?) who was on their list for 2 years is a prime example)

Bock and Warnock (big wraps on) are not going to be there when the Sun's window opens. So their replacements need mentoring (like Schoenmaker) to be able to step into their roles when they retire.

Obviously it is speculative and changes due to injury, form and/or hunger. But when you look at the list, player size/age, position played it narrows the possible players who can fill these roles.

Dixon, Lynch & Day have first options on KPF, with that order being what I consider to have the runs on the board at the moment. They can also pinch hit in the ruck. (favourite player on list is Dixon!)

Smith, Gorringe & Nichols head up the rucks with my smokey being Nichols. Smith is clearly the favourite at this stage but has strong competition from the other 2 boys.

Thompson and Schade are the boys that have the nod for the KPD. Thompson gets my nod as CHB starting the season at CHB (Bock needs time to re-enter the fray). Thompson showed he is capable in his perforamnce pre injury and I love the way he goes about it. He is a potential 10 year player who at 200cm can hold the monster type players.

Schade should get NAB cup experience and maybe 4-8 games in 2012. Once again he was recruited to replace Nathan Bock (Sun's comments 2011 draft pick) and shows huge potential (a dirty saying!) to play either FB or CHB. At 197cm he has the ability if used to carry and kick it 70-80 metres (Young at Hawthorn).

So that takes care of the talls. I shall critique the smalls later.

How long to the season opener? I can only watch so many replays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, the ramblings of the offseason fan. Well said, GTB. :D

You should become a Sun! You certainly have the knowledge.

Only thing I would argue with is that they will ease Bocky into it. From my secret inside person on the other side, they're saying he's still on track for a round 1 return. Not sure if he will see NAB action though.

I'm really hoping to see Schade get a run of about 7-12 games though, you're right. He's built up his frame enough to not simply break at every piece of contact. It also looks like he improved his one big problem; endurance.

None of our forwards would get a game at any other club mate. Well, maybe Lynch at port or something but that's it.
I think they actually all look worse because they're together. If that makes sense.

The midfield doesn't get enough supply to the talls, the talls don't bring it down enough for the smalls, the smalls don't hold it in enough for the midfield to get a zone ready... who are then chasing tail to get it back, to get more supply to the talls... etc etc

You can have a few very young, inexperienced guys playing on talent alone; but a whole forward line of them fails in too many areas & ends up being broken down.

I don't really think it reflects badly on any of them, as talents. It certainly doesn't mean "dey shit".
Just that they're not coping with all areas of their roles. And (i know I'm banging the same old drum) where I think you'd be better off with a few more somewhat experienced role players.

Hey I haven't looked into it that much, but what's the go with Andrew Boston? I read an article about him potentially joining the GC through Zone Selection, but has it been announced it

Sorry to intrude - but the KPF dont normally play many, if any games in there first couple of years. (Franklin and Roughead did - due to the Hawks been C$%P, and the same went for Reiwoldt and Kosi at the time as the saints were at the bottom). But in a top 8 side new KP players dont usually get a look in for a few years.

I wouldnt panic, a couple will come through. I expect probably 1 will have a semi breakout year this year. That is, will be very up and down, where some games looks really good, other games not sighted.

Look at Hawkins - took him till he was 23 to make his mark.

As I said GC did good in the Free agency and Trade.

When the Suns 1st started You look at their best 22 in their 1st season, in that starting 22, They only 8 players with AFL experience. then the Next 14 Spots were 1st year players.

Then in the this season in 2012, the Suns did some smart recruiting getting Warnock on a cheap deal to Help the Defence. Warnock was basically was the main tall defender when Bock had his Injury.

Should be a good season for the suns in 2013. Suns have got at least 10 players with AFL experience from other clubs. Half of those were in retrospect a bargain. Plus the suns have a lost of 3rd year players on the list and this is where the improvement will come from
