Oh Crap! AJ injury.

Pretty freaky that both Suckling and now AJ went down with suspected ACLs on the same day, feel for both players but that's footy.

Would be a massive loss for us if confirmed, though. As bedford said in the other thread though you need players to step up if you want to go back to back. I remember when Malceski did his knee in the pre-season (twice), and he came back stronger, I'm sure AJ will be the same

It was also mentioned that he might be too young for the LARS, given there's a higher chance of re-injury?

Heath had LARS not much older if at all, Swans staff are more pro LARS than anywhere else and have seen as many traditional reco's fail as LARS. I think they'll let AJ choose for himself.
My understanding is that not all ACLs are suitable for LARS, so it's possible he may have no choice and it may need to be the full knee reco.

Carlton recruit Troy Menzel had a LARS surgery when he was 16, 5 years younger than AJ is! Shattering news for the bloke if true, one of my favourite players of recent memory. What is with us and NAB Cup ACL injuries? But now both GF teams have had an ACL injury within hours of each other. Suckling and Johnson. Really feeling for both right now.

Bloody heart breaking for the kid. He's such a valuable part of our back 6. I expect Armstrong to take his spot?

Different roles though. I'd think Armstrong was more competing with Mattner, Malceski, Shaw type rather than Johnson. For me, LRT will probably be permanent back and Jesse White *shudder* will probably get games.

Hope this isn't one of those years...players dropping like flies around the league already. Chin up AJ. :(

I agree. LRT will go back and Ted will probably take the 3rd tall. Ted will dominate even more and get a bit more latitude to run off as well.
Up forward, we could choose to play someone like Lamb instead of White. We already got Goodes, Reid and the resting ruckman up forward.
Awful news for AJ, but at least it didn't happen to him last year and he should be right for round 1 next year.

Yeah I suppose you're right. White actually looks pretty sharp this year and it's evident he has been working on his fitness and second efforts. Hope he can play a few good games for us this year.
