There are a fleet of young players at DOSA who will be capable of doing a good job.. With Rowie being close to the forefront of these players.. Will be a good long term senior player with the club..

At the forefront would definitely have to be one Brennan Ploughman, once he gets over his "Shane Watson" like injury record..

Getting back to the real world.. Is it true what I heard about Rat Gilmour being given free rent at a house in Sandy Bay for 12 months as part of his deal with Uni?

Wouldn't think that would be true... Rat bought a house in Glenorchy with his partner not long ago... I would of thought he would be on a pretty good wicket though.. Is apparentley good mates with the president - Troy Stewart... Word is that Uni are set for big things in 09.. Matt Riseley and Josh Nelson also set to Sign on!!

Josh "tennis Balls" Nelson didn't get on that well with Gilmour the last i knew. Hence Nelson not finishing the 07 year out with Brighton.
Matt Riseley as a pick-up is definately nothing to write home about.
 
With all the players heading to Uni and new jumpers,shorts and polo tops on the way big Troy will be on every bodys shopping list next year :)

Surley they would be looking for someone a little better? Sure on his day can turn a game but those days are mostly behind him I would have though.

The statement is not true. He was not approached, he did not approach the club. He was not offered a cent.

as usual this time of year,rumours and bullshit i spoke to mat honey yesterday he said a load of crap,know one has asked him 2 coach anywhere.
 
Saw Chris Hevey last night.... my god has he shed some kilos! is he lining up for the ships? lauderdale? don't think he played last year......

If he keeps the weight off could be a very handy player for the ships.

yeah in the know i was wondering the same thing?? hopefully he realises his talent and has a crack at the state league with the bombers, would think he'd be keen to play with his two close cousins paul hudson and alex hevey? only time will tell though

Heves spent last season in Denmark playing cricket, was at the Ships players meting last week and is keen to have a crack with the Ships.

is a great bloke and has talent to burn.
 
Can someone fill me in on player payment restrictions for the Old Scholars, there is some talk of serious cash floating around. My info was only 5 players could be paid?
 
As i understand it, Old Scholars Clubs can pay upto 6 people. The only person i can get confirmed as being paid by Uni is Ben Beams. Not sure the deal on the others and not sure if Ben is playing or just coaching. Have got an in with a couple of the boys down there so i'll find out. My mail is there very keen to get off the bottom, so you'd think with Beams, Gilmour and those North Hobart blokes, they'd be a good chance at 5th.

well i was led to believe only coach and 2 assistant coaches only get paid,but that accounts 4 shit when you can pay under the table,as all clubs do.

Yeah ive heard from a good source that Mazey, dunham and Rae are on $150. And I think Burgess is on a lot more as he has played vfl last year.

Then you chuck in a Bemas and Gilmour and that some pretty big cash being chucked around by Uni.

And thier ruckman (cant remember his name) very good player, who you would think is on a bit of coin. Coach and two assist are the players usually paid in the old scholars but that went out the window when Richmond joined the comp. It can not be policed with under the table stuff that happens .I just hope that no clubs fall over trying to keep up with the Jonses (or uni ;) )
