Oleg definitely didn’t drink his own bath water. He’s not that type of bloke.
Sometimes footy isn’t the number one priority.
Back him to bounce back next season.

They re-signed him quite late in the year didn't they, so not the normal contracted but we don't really want you situation. I think it was a kick up the arse. He's gone if he repeats 2024, but safe if he hits 2023 form, particularly with likely retirements and other delistings.
He'll be 30 by then, once he starts to lose his speed he's got no chance, it's the only thing he has.

He's 28. I hope he's made an appointment to be measured for a wheelchair. There's a long waiting time with Medicare.

Players have kids all the time, I would hope that's not the reason he fell of the cliff this year.
Clearly his moustache suffered from severe trauma due to being shaved off at the end of the 2023 season. Once it grew back, it required at least 12 months of rehabilitation to regain full strength. I expect a big 2025 season from Oleg. Take it to the bank.

I'm not sure it necessarily means last shot. Maybe with AJ, but not Markov. The club wouldn't be frustrated with Markov to the same degree they would be with AJ. Markov has never been more than depth throughout his career, he just happened to play out of his skin in 2023.
I think those two were picked to be rookied because they're the two that would be the least likely to be poached by another club during the DFA period or in the rookie draft prior to our pick. A club was probably going to grab McInnes for free if we committed to rookie listing him. Same with Fin. The only other one I can think of that would have close to zero chance of being poached is Ryan.

Maybe it was more “Which 2 would most benefit by a kick up the backside?”.
Normally I’d reckon Oleg would be half way out the door now, but he is still ‘only’ 28 in an aging list, he still managed to play 12 games last year, and with us losing Murphy and Noble in the off-season and gaining Houston, we’re down on experience in our backline.

I’d have thought a few clubs would value “Premiership player” as holding good currency in Oleg’s case?
