G'day,
Just interested to know everyones thoughts on How/Why Adam Goodes has two brownlows.
I know in starting this thread i may cop some sh*t, however its just to see what everyone else's opinions are ?
I admire Goodes and believe his a very good player, but was he worthy of two brownlows ?

Thanks:thumbsu:

No. Doesn't even deserve one.
I don't know why people think he is a good player. To me he never does anything special, just runs around the back of packs receiving cheap handballs.
At his best he is a good average player.
If he didn't play for Sydney and if the Sydney media and AFL didn't pump him up so much then he'd be recognised as that as well

Anyone who thinks he gets cheap handballs out the back of packs and doesn't win contested footy simply doesn't watch enough of him. His contested possessions are up there with some of best in and under mids and add to this the number of clearances, inside 50's and rebound 50's he racks up and you go some way to understanding why he is such a damaging player.

There is simply nothing Goodes can't do. When he's on song he simply tears teams to shreds.

The Vics Vs DT game this year showed where is at: The elite of the elite in the comp.

Living in Canberra I unfortunately get to see Goodes and Sydney run out every week

Of course he deserves his two Brownlow medals.

The medal is decided by votes placed by umpires. It's Adam Goodes. Ya see where I'm going here?

Good player, yes. Clearly the best player over the course of 2 separate full seasons? No. Was Woewodin? Was Cousins? Was Bartel?

2007 Brownlow medal:

D Swan - 20 votes
L Franklin - 5 votes
D Cox - 3 votes
D Glass - 2 votes

Over-rated award.

deserved one, but i feel the second one he won was chris judd's brownlow

and chris judds brownlow was in reality tredrea's brownlow.

as someone said, 07, glass got 2 votes, cox got 3, and franklin didnt even grab 3 votes for kicking 9 against essendon

flawed. but good on him, i guess he doesnt mind having two brownlows.

what an idiotic thread.. your asking people who cant see past their own team if a player from another side is worthy...hardly anyone on here can see a good player on any side but theres
he was a big chance on both occasions in the media and with sports bet etc so i guess they must have thought he had good years....and what a few on here dont get about the brownlow is it is judged on one year not his career...its bit like saying buckley should give his medal back cause really his last year he was hopeless( with injury and age)
you can also see from some of the replys most dont think he even a player their team would want but if he was on the market not one side would not have a go at getting him...but of course people on here know more than recruiters and clubs

Spot on.

Imo, 2003 brownlow was not deserved to be won by adam goodes, and 2006 im sure in a lot of ppls thoughts would acknowledge scott west as the more worhty brownlow medalist.
Adam Goodes is loved by the umps and that was shown when his head high contact charge was dismissed.
Supposedly, the umpires are writing an article about Adam Goodes giving excellent Headjobs prior to the matches:p:p

You sir, are either the greatest footballer of all time or very biased.

No, because he gets away with a lot that other players don't.

Won't ever be forgiven for the cheap shot he gave a true champion (Hird) last year and subsequent incidents.

so because according to you he hit st james in a totally differant year to winning the brownlow he dosent deserve it?
seems you must be getting someone to type this for you cause by your comments your not smart enough to turn computer on:D

Most of these come from the handball receives. :thumbsu:

He can't seem to win the respect of non-Swans fans :p

Most over rated player in the competition.

And i am not just talking about fans over rating him.

you my man are very very correct :thumbsu:

When i form Goodes is one of the best midfielders in the competition. He has that rare combination of height and speed. He has the ability to also play in the ruck, up forward and even down back on occasion. There is no better sight in AFL than when Goodes gets a clean possession from a ruckman in the centre bounce and runs with the ball, sidestepping half a dozon opposition players and the kicks a goal. Hawthorn fans from Round 22 last year should remember this aswell as Richmond fans from round 10 this year.

Adam Goodes played brilliantly for two years, I thought his 1st one was warrented, or close to. The second one he had a great year but was lucky to get it. Although he has them, probably close to deserving both, and you can never take that away from him! My point is, he will forever be remembered as the worst player to ever win 2 brownlow';s! Just as Woewodin is the worst to ever win one!
