Opinions on whether Adam Goodes deserved two charlies ?

Given the amount of times Mark Bolton had Goodes wrapped around his little finger, why would we have needed or wanted Goodes. I'm sure if you asked Goodes yourself, he would say he is glad he doesn't have to play on Bolton now (and as this year's game proved - without Bolton out there, Goodes starred).

I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to get a YouTube of the Goodes/Hird incident last year. How on earth does any player get off that? Was Goodes frustrated yet again by Bolton? Probably. Why did he go off at Hird then if that was the case? Jealous of Hird's standing in the game maybe?

Are you seriously saying that you would not want Adam Goodes playing for Essendon right now?

Whether or not you think he deserves two brownlows, there's no team in the land that wouldn't want Goodes playing for them.

I don't think we need a player like that in the list we now have. The only way I'd want him would be if he cleaned up his act and actually played like a Hird did - or a Lucas does now.

Well, he did deserve them, because the umpires gave him the votes and therefore he got the award. That's just the nature of the brownlow: the guy who catches the eye of the umpires wins.

However, if you were to ask me who the best player in the competition was in 2003 and 2006 I would not name Goodes as my first pick He would definitely rank in the top 5, but not the best player in the comp. I think part of the reason he won those awards is that in a team full of workman-like players, he was the most flashy and eye catching. IMO, both Dean Cox and Scotty West were far more deserving of a Brownlow in 06.

I still consider the Brownlow medal to be a bit of a joke, in any case. I mean, the fact that Scarlett, Glass and Rutten received a combined total of 9 votes last year just goes to show what a meaningless award it really is.

Now for all the nay sayers

2003 there must be somewhere a torrent of all Swans 2003 games
Watch them all then comment!

Some of the most extraordinary football you will ever see. A bloke who by necessity was asked to play out of positon in the ruck, run all day and was beyond any ......superlatives!!!!!!

I never have made a banner for the footy even when I was a kid but was seriously thinking of making one for the Bris V Syd PF " Goodsey give us a premiership to go with your Brownlow"

Taking nothing away from Buckley or Riccuito (especially Ru) but Goodes was more brilliant and eye catching!!!

2006 May have been a bit lucky as he was the only flashy player (consistent every week for the last half of the season) in a team of ordinary bland even "Cortina's" . In a reigning premiership winning team also helps!!

Again at circa round 15 maybe bit later I synchronously said to the bloke who sits near me at the SCG when he had a stunner and did something unbelievable " We are looking at the 2006 Brownlow medalist *smile";)

History books will forever say 2 brownlows up to 2007... maybe more but this thread will end up in interweb lahlah land!!!:)

LOL ... yeah that is what I said :thumbsdown:

Yes chump...thats what your moronic and lame troilling attempt means. Woewodin = Judd.

Thats how u rate players.

Of course it wouldnt have anything to do with how not one Pies player can ever man up on Goodes would it ?

Despite having the wood on us last yr Goodes made every single Pies player trying to run with him look absolutely ridiculous.

Jealousy is an all too obvious basis for a lame troll.

Imo, 2003 brownlow was not deserved to be won by adam goodes, and 2006 im sure in a lot of ppls thoughts would acknowledge scott west as the more worhty brownlow medalist.
Adam Goodes is loved by the umps and that was shown when his head high contact charge was dismissed.
Supposedly, the umpires are writing an article about Adam Goodes giving excellent Headjobs prior to the matches:p:p

if you are going to post your opinion make sure you back it up with actual facts!!! Goodes was reported by the umpire on the night and the charge wasnt dismissed it was a one match suspension handed down by the MRP reduced to reprimand with an early plea, the decision had nothing to do with the umps...and yes goodes is deserving of his brownlows, he is a champion

Waste of a thread. The hatred of Goodes will continue to draw overrated opinions from other supporters. To be honest, I don't understand the hatred because the Brownlow is overrated in itself by many BF pundits, as it's voted by umpires. So, the real question is, if the Brownlow is overrated, why do people care so much if Goodes won two? Interesting...

Brownlows are a bit of a joke cause they are an umpires award and the best player that year often does not win it. However, ask the players if they want them and they all say yes. So, its quite possible that there could have been a more deserving player each of the years that Goodes won just like Bartell beat Ablett last year. However, I would argue that Goodes was the best player in the comp when he won his first Brownlow.

In saying all that Goodes is an absoulte champion of the game and I have seen him win and influence games by himself on as many occassions as I can remember any other player. Now that may be because Sydney is devoid of others that can do this but all the same he is the game breaker. Dont have to go back much further than this past week when once again he was BOG and when the game was close it was he who got us going again. The week before that it was Goodes against the Eagles with his gut running that clawed us back to win against WC and it was his brilliant play with his big mit that tapped the goal to Eski. (Thats just the last 2 weeks)

Sydney are too Goodes-reliant for my liking but thankfully he is man mountain physically and just doesnt break down. The guy can play in any position on the field and regularly out runs and out paces smaller "running" players.

The only players in the comp that I would trade him for right now is G Ablett and Buddy Franklin and thats just cause of their age and their ability to win matches like Goodes. He is every bit as good as the stars in the competition and when they all played together it was no surprise to see that it was Goodes who stood out.

If Goodes played for a VIC team he would be treated as a God. No surprise that he was voted by his peers recently as the second best aboriginal player ever behind another freak in Andy McCleod.

When all said and done many will look back on the great career of Adam Goodes and they will marvel at his achievments and just like Buckley once he retired opposition fans will respect what he has done and not act like little kids trying to score points..

You are a champ Goodesy:thumbsu:

Talk about putting words into my mouth. Cheap troll!

The only thing I did was agree with someone who said that Woe had a good season when he won the Brownlow .... and you go off on this rant.

Don't like this thread? Truth hurt a bit much?

:D:p:D:p:D

I don't think he has deserved two. But that's not really going to change anything is it?

I though Judd clearly should have won it in 06, he was brilliant that year, miles better than when he won in 2004 (which should have been Tredrea's Brownlow I have to say).

Goodes only polled in three matches against top 8 teams, once against us and once each against the 7th and 8th teams.

And he was a little lucky to get one in a three way tie in 2003. He has only had two seasons worthy of AA selection, and he has won the Brownlow each time.

I don't like Goodes at all, so my opinion probably doesn't mean a lot, but I don't think he has deserved two Brownlows. Probably has deserved one though.

Still a gun player.

I love vics reactions to sydney:

Paul Roos a good coach? No hes got a really talented team that everyone underrates with players like goodes hall etc.

Sydney a decent team? No, love child of the AFL, protected by umpires, bunch of workman like hacks, have paul roos.

Is it just me or does the chip some vics have on their shoulder about NSW seem to be getting larger? No matter the question almost all vics will say Sydney are crap regardless.
