Listening to Chris Salt being so bullish about the cats future last night had me checking the ages of dads army.

Apart from the retiring Hawkins and Tuohy they still have a lot of players nearing the end.

Stanley 34
Cameron 31 (32 start of season)
Bews 31
Rohan 33
Guthrie 32
Atkins 29
Duncan 33
Dangerflop 34
Stewart 31 (32 at start of season)
Blicavs 33 (34 at start of season)

4 of them spend a lot of time in the midfield.
Some of those old timers will be put out to pasture but it's all enough to give you the runs.
train wreck

Honestly thought half those blokes were already retired 😱

For God’s sake, the amount of excuses they come up with, gastro, Covid etc. Oh please!!! No mention of the obvious one. THEY JUST WEREN’T GOOD ENOUGH!

Cats couldn’t have been more blessed in 2024. Got a woeful Port in week 1 of finals. Were full strength other than Guthrie. Faced a Lions team who’d played 2 finals missing 5 players with ACL’s, then lost their gun ruck early in the game. Cats hadn’t lost to Lions in Melbourne since 2004.

But but but … unlucky because Holmes was injured …..

i'm backing in fitzroy to beat south melbourne
Wouldn't it be great if one of them used the GF as one of those rare occasions when they put on their entity's original (South Melbourne) or merged original (Fitzroy) guernsey.

I know, I know. As likely as Chris Scott praising the opposition after blowing another prelim.

Don’t forget about getting kissed on the bell end with a favourable fixture. Something they should never have got

Don’t forget about getting kissed on the bell end with a favourable fixture. Something they should never have got

Yet Head Coach Salt says: "we've had our challenges this year."

It must be so tough for them not having the total run of the AFL Football Department as per usual.

Who did we get for double ups
Port (bogey team)
Carlton (afl and media darlings)
st dildo (no maddies match tho)
dockers (rapidly improving team at the time)
gold campaigners (dimma thing meant they were supposed to be rapidly improving)
hawthorn (the biggest improvers of them all)

All these things being known at the time the fixture was scatted together. We couldn’t have hoped for a kind draw but at least they could have given us a double up against someone like the druggos.
We’ll get double ups next year against swans lions dogs hawks and one of norf or eagles just to make it fair

hahahahha

That fwit Barrett hangs shit on everyone. That is his only talent. The egotistical fool can't take it back.

Said it before... and it's widely known without surprise that he's the most hated person in AFL media, and with good reason.
The que to whack this bloke would go around the corner and into the next suburb.

Yes but you forgot two of the staff got COVID which would have forced a lot of tactical changes

I'm calling it, Cats are DONE!!!

Lachie Neale has won 2 Brownlow medals. If he wins a third one tonight, where does that put him in terms of assessing him/ranking him for midfielders/players in modern footy or at least from 2000 onwards?

I mean yes he is a very very good player but I wouldn't have him ahead of Ablett Jnr, Martin, Judd, Dangerfield, Franklin.

Interested in your thoughts..

mickey mouse medal everyone knows it

mickey mouse medal everyone knows it

But then that means Dusty also won the "Mickey Mouse" medal in 2017.

The Brownlow is still a prestigious award however because it is an "opinion award"...sometimes the winner will come as a shock to people.
