I think Hawthorn will beat the GoDees next week.
Media are hyping them up like they finished top of the ladder and were unbeaten all year but they were ordinary after their first quarter. Even if by luck they get through to the Prelim they will be either facing a full strength Eagles or a Magpies who have had 2 weeks to get their shit together.

Only looked good because Geelong looked like the local under 15s.

Getting a bit carried away over dees aren't you all, geelol outscored them after qtr time, odds on to crash out against the hawks IMO, remember last year when the swans were going to wipe the floor with the cats in the semi finals after demolishing Essendon.

Thursday night game was far superior to fridays night game.

Shhhhhhhhh....;)

The test for Melbourne will be the Hawthorn match.
Melb should defeat WC, if they play the preliminary final, they have the score on the board.
They started fast and the fickle Perth crowd went quiet.
Weideman is only 21, scoring three goals in a final already.
They have the belief to succeed, they are media and umpires' pets, and a large dormant supporter base coming to life. 91,000 fans overall last night.
They have 53 years of failure, it is a very strong motivating force.
We have to be wary and not underestimate.

Geelong are stuffed. Listening to Brian Cook interviewed last week, their feeling is that as a club they can't afford to ever bottom out. Financially they need to be performing and apparently a dip in form sees their small profit become a moderate loss and they don't think they can take that.
It's the reason they keep topping up with questionable recruits, some of which have worked better than others. It's also the reason that they keep making finals and losing. They desperately need to draft some top talent. Drafting being the best value way to get elite talent into your club, and adding in 2 or 3 young guns would make a huge difference to them IMO.
On their trajectory, they are going to stay a middle of the road club like ninf who aren't deep enough to do any damage in spring, and aren't bad enough to pick up a few more top picks.
Short term thinking.

I used to love Joel Selwood. I can't stand him now. You've summed him up perfectly imo. Petulant, entitled. Cracks the sads every time he gets more than a passing glance from oppo. Still ducks and dives head first into tackles and is one of only about 3 left in the league that continue to do so and actually get rewarded.

I too, used to love Joel Selwood. For the reasons above, I've gone the same way. The reversal last night was absolutely selfish of him. It cost Geelong any hope of winning. Geelong won the last 3/4's. Ablett was 100% right to spray him from the wing for that act too. Ablett's picked up a number of critics this year and Ablett's body can't do what it used to, or what he wants it to, but his mind was willing him on. Selwood on the other hand, had a tanty.

Melbourne winning is perfect for us. All the media attention goes onto them while we go about it quietly.
Kingy and everyone else will spend two weeks writing articles on how the dees can roll us etc etc. Fantastic.
Also, on Selwood, on of the best things i saw last night was he gives away a free. He gets up, starts sooking to the umpire, in the meantime Harmes gets the pill, plays on and burns past him. Says everything about how he goes about it now.

SEN bringing up the Bob throwing paper in the air because Sydney got Buddy but conveniantly not bringing up what Nick said to Bob straight after,”but you won the flag after that”

Media playing with their power.
