Buckley is a pretty decent coach though; and Leigh Matthews from an era past, but I agree it’s more often than not the other way around.
Bucks has become a decent coach, yeah. But where do you see the Pies finishing next year? And how long can he keep his job if they're not making grand finals or prelims?

Without wanting to sound like a Bucks/Collingwood sympathiser, his coaching style has evolved significantly (from being a ‘boys club’ style coach to being more inclusive/empowering), and I think he’s at a level that would win our list a flag (purely hypothetically speaking).

Judging their list, I’m not sure they’re that far away - they’re certainly in the mix for top 4 and obviously play the G well, so could give it a shake. Their squad isn’t as deep as ours in my opinion.

But then I feel that coaches only have so much say over the composition of a list - they take plenty of advice from list management and talent ID teams. So it’s a bit hard to judge coaches on list talent or on flags alone - realisation of talent, sure - but composition of the list is not purely in their control (nor are things like injuries/conditioning issues).

Must have loosened up because he wasn't walking properly at the start of the game and poor gazza couldn't kick it 50 metres during the warm up
He could throw his elbow further.

Figjam and scumwood only changed when they read Conrad Marshall’s book .

If grigg went anywhere else I’d be concerned at the loss of IP, scott gives the impression that unless it was his idea it’s bullshit , he’d scoff at anything grigga had to say to the point he’d be afraid to open his gob for fear of even more ridicule , im sleeping like a baby on this
Grigga's new job will be to fit white table tennis balls into Scott's open mouth everytime Scott is puzzled by an umpire's decision...

Was just thinking. The next five years will have some very sad moments when our current crop of champions start to retire. Riewoldt, Rance, Houli, Edwards, then some huge ones in Cotchin and Martin.

In the past we haven’t got to see off a lot players. Half the time the coach gets the sack and most of the list gets the arse.

The only superstar players who were also great players, from what I can recall, have been Barassi, Matthews and Blight.

The thieving campaigner was a pretty handy player for a back pocket plumber

Yeah, but I wouldn't put him in the absolute top bracket like the others.

Remember the days when we used to overrate our list and underrate everyone else's?

That's when you know your team is a stinking pile of shit.

Bring on Round 1
