The AFL changes rules to make it more free flowing and the coaches respond by finding new ways to slow the game to give their defences a chance to restructure. Its a constant push-and-pull that has been going on for years.

Or you could let the game evolve organically, resist knee jerk rule changes that cut away the fabric of the game and be real....and maybe there's less goals and better games of footy.
