I don't think it was a point. There is video evidence that shows the ball below the top of the post but you can see a piece of the ball on each side of the post so it's clearly behind the post at that point, has crossed the line and is a goal. The ball then continues travelling upwards and it's possible that the ball afterwards intersected the line of the post. This relies on complete synchronisation of the cameras in terms of the timing of when each frame is taken, something that is normally controlled for in multi camera situations. There can be minor variations in timing still depending on whether the cameras are the same distance away from the central control /mixing desk due to delay effects in cable transmission but these are likely infinitesimally small. That said I think it was a goal first and then only later did it potentially cross the line of the goal post. I think they didn't look for evidence that it was a goal first but only looked to see if it hit the post / would have hit the post. But it's astounding there has been no explanation offered to the fans, we are taken for granted. What about the fans ?
Are we just supposed to accept that lame ass "trust us, it was conclusive" ?
Why can't the vision or whatever it is, be released?
Ok, I'll even admit it was probably a point but their own rule was that it needed conclusive proof to overturn the umpires decision and they were the rules adhered to all year. Until that moment and it arguably cost us the game. Grrrr
