I meant that every seemed to think we had the player to cover him. We don’t—not yet, at least. He was invaluable.

Don't think anyone expected Rosas or Jeffrey to immediately replace Rankine or to ever have his ceiling.
I do think that both of them could be valuable players though.
 
You get the feeling it's going to be really hard to make finals this year.

Can't see Collingwood dropping (was hoping they would)
Adelaide certainly on the up
Port looked amazing

Not sure about the Crows. They've choked away a pretty good lead here and now it's back to a one kick game. GWS look like they might do a job on them today.
 
Days late... I'm on one leg after getting my leg caught in between seats after I tried to cross from one row to another, I usually time it well but not this time.
But win or not, the pies/cats game as a great game of footy, especially when you compare that to thur night game.
We're prob ahead of where we were this time last year -- as you would expect with another pre-season with a new game plan. But the atmosphere was insane. One of the better round 1 wins ive seen ive a while.

This is where they actually need Rankine to step up. Game on the line and he can be a genuine game winner in this situation. Let's see what he does...

GWS midfield is way better when on fire. But they are 2 players down now. I will be difficult from now on.

It's ridiculous when Crows player knocks out a GWS player and only GWS is penalised by the player missing the rest of the game.

And now Kelly down with head knock. 3 players down (including Whitfield and Kelly) plus Haynes nursing a groin. If GWS wins it will be a great win. Toby Greene is absolute star. Just missed 2 gettable shots :(

Giants are dominating even though they've got one player left on the interchange. All Rankine has done so far in the fourth quarter is turn it over.

To recap - Crows were up by 4 points at three quarter time and the Giants end up winning by 16 points while being down to just one player on the bench for most of the fourth quarter and many GWS players had bad cramp as well. Game on the line and Rankine had two possession in the fourth quarter - one was a turnover and the other was a run down the wing that involved a fend off.

Unfortunately for the Crows, Rankine just isn't the game winner they want him to be. Not yet anyway.

Massive choke by the crows, was questioning if GWS Were even gonna beat Eagles next week in the 2nd quarter. Tipped GWS so happy with that
 
Freo kicking 7 goals under the roof against an undermanned St Kilda team would be setting off alarm bells. Really can’t read too much into round 1 results at the end of the day though I guess (luckily for us).

Does serve a reminder that teams aren’t owed s*it and any team can win in any given round at this level. Hopefully the boys are watching and understanding this before our next couple of weeks.
