lol poor Crows parents

Probably a good indicator of where the crows are at both on and off field. Their own fans don't even think much of them.

Lol that lot is worth nothing. We would be lucky to get offered pick 88 for lienert or Garner. Could we get much for bonner? Will he want to leave Sa? A 29yr old lycett?

if wines leaves our inside mid stocks would have been decimated and we would have to go all in on replacing him somehow.

I'm really suprised how negative you are about our trading and drafting recently. Surely, you can see some positives?
Our squad is in reasonable shape with some excellent young players to soften the blow when Boak, Gray etc retire.
We basically snagged Allir, Fantasia, Jones and Georgie with our 2020 hand.
What would you do?

Geez, that presser, he sounds like my self-entitled, gen y son.... I’ve pulled a hamstring, oh no, I must be stressed
I actually thought he did well, seemed relaxed and positive, spoke well. That was the first time I'd heard him so wasn't sure what to expect.

He spoke really well. Comes across much more likeable, humble, self-aware in that interview than I had expected. Small step to winning me over already.

Same here. Came across as a likeable, intelligent guy who's glad to be back home amongst family.

im very positive about our drafting and I think it has covered some other sins.

Trading in terms of clever pick swaps have been great in the past but we haven’t done anything like that yet and even if we’re waiting to draft day now a bunch of clubs have earlier expendable picks so I don’t see much interest in ours and we’re down to very little in hand for next year

I think the Alir trade was pretty good. I thought Sydney would be asking for more than that and while I wouldn’t say it’s a bargain it’s a pretty astute and decent price for us.

the Fantasia trade was pretty poor imo and relies on everything going right (Fantasia staying injury free, finding good form, and working in our forward setup and ground which is nothing like what he’s seen before) that’s a lot of what ifs.

if we only got one of Alir and Fantasia than we probably would have been alright. Even if neither worked out we wouldn’t have burnt a lot trying it.

my concern is we are going shallow as hell in this draft, probably taking just jones and some rookie level players and next year we again will be trapped into a weak hand cause of a lack of picks.
I personally would have done the Alir trade, skipped on Fantasia or had a 3rd up for him, and let him ride to free agency if not and put picks 29 and 35 on the table for future picks and gone into the offseason with jones, Alir, and 2021 picks 1st round , 2nd round (traded in) 3rd round and another 3rd (traded in for 35) knowing that we’re pretty set up to strengthen our list in 2021.
In that scenario we would have strengthened a weakness, have very little downside in cost and have a good hand for next years draft. Very very low risk.

Having said that it’s done now hopefully Fantasia is fit and firing and Parker pulls off some draft miracles in the next two drafts.

I know a few people weren't happy about CD saying we had an obligation to get the deal done, but it is part of the ethos at Port where they are really getting player buy in to the club and each other. We look after each other here. That's something you can't buy and was a big part of the success of the Port teams of the 1980s and 90s under John Cahill.

A great post because it’s seperate us from just being just a football club to being the Port Adelaide Football Club. A player needs to be transferred to a Melbourne club due to family reason and we get it done sometimes at a cost to us and in Fantasia’s case he wants to come home due to family reason and we get the transfer done dealing with the most obnoxious human in AFL world. I’m so proud of the club.

Man, he looks like he has atrophied big time.

I question whether he was really even training much with Essendon. I feel like he just took the year off to get himself refreshed.

This is why I've basically ignored any hysterical posting of his stats from the last season or two. I really think they have little relevance to what we can expect to see from him at Port. He clearly hasn't been fit or happy for the last two seasons and it has shown in his output.

I think this is especially true after listening to Fantasia talk.

It seems he is quite an anxious fellow and would have very much appreciated Port putting him at ease.

I dare say he hates Dodoro.

With the depth of young talent still outside our best 22 I don’t think having a weak hand in this draft is an issue at all. We will need to find decent game time for Bergman, Williams and Jones otherwise there is a good chance they will be looking elsewhere.
