They have yellow in it.Melbourne?
Oh, Gold Coast. They have yellow in it.
lolOh, Gold Coast.
Must be embarrassing for Freo that WCE had a higher average home ground attendance during a spoon year(2023) than they did though
Players wont want to go to Richmond if theyre struggling, as much as Richmond is a bigger club players generally prefer to go to clubs that they can win games at
Less so, its easier to keep players than to recruit them generally, just from observations.Wouldn't the same apply to player retention at a struggling club?
Whats WCE got to do with this? West Coast are past their worst now, and retention has always been a huge strength of the Eagles.A club like WCE?

North didnt lose many players they wanted to keep, for example. Was really only JHF who was always a huge flight risk.
I dont see any similar to JHF at West coast or Richmond at this stage(Richmond not anymore at least)

I'd be very confident of betting my left nut that you're wrong. No club is taking the risk if you ask me. A nothing discussion because he won’t have any interest
Nah, no one is going to want the 25yo KPF who’s proven to be capable of kicking 50+ in a season.I'd be very confident of betting my left nut that you're wrong.
An older, more crippled Barrass had probably would too.
Its pretty clear to even the most casual observer that West Coast are not going to be worse next year.WCE because it's a thread about Oscar Allen. They seem like the most relevant club in such a discussion.
As for them being past their worst....maybe, maybe not. 5 wins and a percentage of 68 isn't exactly proof of a massive revival. I'm sure like (almost) all clubs, their fans will see signs of improvement, and in WCE's case, that will be echoed/amplified by the WA media, but lets see what the new year brings.
Its pretty clear to even the most casual observer that West Coast are not going to be worse next year.
When you throw the word degenerative into someone’s medical records, it’s a game changer of massive proportions in reality.Nah, no one is going to want the 25yo KPF who’s proven to be capable of kicking 50+ in a season.
I’d suggest there aren’t many teams with as many inexperienced players in their 22 than eagles 2024, natural progression is a near certainty. That's really going to depend on Waterman having another career season and Yeo turning back the clock again. The most casual observer saw WC lose one of their two AFL proven key defenders and the other one is thirty three next year.
If national development of the younger players takes over, then it's going to be a better year for WC but their best performers were still their very mature players, indicative of a reliance on them and if they have injury seasons the result will suffer:
2024 WC B&F (current age):
McGovern (32y 8m)
Yeo (31y 2m)
Waterman (26y 7m)
Duggan (28y)
Hough (21y 9m)
Cripps (32y 7m)
Barrass (29y 2m)
Cole (27y 6m)
Reid (19y 7m)
Kelly (30y 4m)
3 under 27. Or to put it another way, of all the guys on WC's list in 2024 who were above thirty are either in that list or traded or retired now
And because someone will expect to see it, here is Fremantle's:
Serong (23y 10m)
Brayshaw (25y 1m)
Young (23y 8m)
Treacy (22y 4m)
Switkowski (28y)
Clark (24y 2m)
Ryan (28y 2m)
Pearce (29y 6m)
Jackson (23y 2m)
Walker (22y 1m)
None over thirty. Also didn't play finals.
Point is that every other team also believes they will be better next season and WC needs to have more than Reid and Hough contributing at a top ten B&F level, replacing the grand dads, before the progression for them can speed up.
Are you stupid or dishonest?Well you can't be talking about West Coast, considering we had a higher average and higher total attendance than Fremantle this year.
West Coast don't wear yellow either.

What part of my post makes you think I'm stupid or dishonest? Are you stupid or dishonest?

That's why I said he must've been talking about Melbourne/GC, but clearly they still wanted to go down that path of embarrassing oneself.Well you can't be talking about West Coast, considering we had a higher average and higher total attendance than Fremantle this year.

Yep you sum it up well.
May be contending for finals by the time Allen is 30, but do you really want that? Get maximum impact for him now. You guys are miles off it. By far the furthest if Harley goes as expected in the next couple as well. Build properly with high draft picks.
Its dumb to think you could even afford him anyway. This is good news.
For Brisbane fans
Is it? A lot of fuss being made over one draft considering they are coming from a position where, if we’re being very generous they have 3 players under 23 that have looked like they belong at AFL level.
Our biggest weaknesses this year were things like transition running and accountability at contests. We have fixed those with our list additions. That's really going to depend on Waterman having another career season and Yeo turning back the clock again. The most casual observer saw WC lose one of their two AFL proven key defenders and the other one is thirty three next year.
Thats normal for a list comprised of mostly players aged 22 or under, and aging A-graders. The whole idea is natural progression occurs. If national development of the younger players takes over, then it's going to be a better year for WC but their best performers were still their very mature players, indicative of a reliance on them and if they have injury seasons the result will suffer:
Who are the core players that will lead the eagles to premiership glory in 5 years?Josh Kennedy was 30 when he won a premiership.
Wouldn't have won without him.
So your point really is moot. Every premiership team has 30 to 35 year olds playing in them.
In 4 years the Eaglea list if good enough age wise should be contending. That's the list plan.
