If Cox and/or Kreuger don't get up for this week, it might be time to give big Oscar a game or two.
Ladhams and McLean would be a big test, plus they're getting Hickey back this week, along with trying to man Franklin and McDonald at the same time, but we don't have a lot of options.
Give Frampton a chop out, provide us more structure, give Oscar a taste of the top level and see if we have one for the long term.

Cox could be back in a fortnight and Begg will resume in the VFL this week, so a chop out isn't far off.

All the more reason to give him a run, nothing much to lose giving him a game or two. Even Mcrae said in his presser how the structure was effected with Krueger going down, how Mihochek, WHE and Jamie was our "talls" in our forward line.
If Krueger is out, give him a run, our structure will be better for it. We've been dominant in clearances without a recognised ruck, what harm could Big O do?

It could harm his development by destroying his confidence.

So we are playing the game of where’s Oscar?
I haven’t seen him in the injury update and he hasn’t played the last 2 VFL games, have I missed something? Is he taking time off from the club? Is he ok?

Is it like the previous years when a couple of players just weren’t talked about for weeks by the club and suddenly they reappeared.

Saw him at the vfl. He has been sick. But was back at training this morning.

He’s a 19 year old kid ruck… these young rucks are a ‘set and forget’ investment.

Which is why… considering we finished top 4 last year.. I’d rather they just top up ruck depth with experienced ready to play rucks like Naismith instead

The kid Steene might end up a great AFL ruck… but we’ll be waiting a while.

What we need right now is ruck depth without shifting Johnson or Frampton out of their respective positions

I remember you were very anti Steene to start with and I see you have not changed your tune, I would say we survived very well without our 2 1st choice rucks because Frampton was than adequate as a ruck and did not have call on Oscar.

I am glad about because he would have been smash in the ruck and you would have been leading the charge about picking a developing ruck.forgive me also I do not see the point of another mature ruck when we have 3 already at a high standard. How many do we need 10 or every 2nd player to be a ruck.

Good to hear, still it’s strange how there’s always 1 a year that the club doesn’t say anything about. Last year I think it was Tyler who the club just ignored saying anything about. I’m actually curious from a players privacy point of view whether the club has to get permission to publish if they are sick or injured, it is after all their health records.
Just curious

I guess if the media don't ask about a certain player, the club has no reason to say when every player has the flu. They only have obligations if its an injury (even then took them ages to report Draper's concussion)

I'm sure in the basic contracts all players sign they give the clubs permission to do things like this.

I tend to agree with the general sentiment of this one. I don’t think it’s worth drafting speculative long term ruck picks like this. You can pick them up later once they’re developed usually without much difficulty. It’s a spot on the list that could’ve been used in the mid season draft this year or for another potential young player in the National Draft
