is anyone else, like me, happy about the fact that we have had hardly any media attention this summer? personally i think it is great, kind of like a way of luring everyone into a false sense of security. With ben cousins going to the tigers, judd being fit at carlton, eagles getting belted at pubs, west coast players being injured, we have recieved little attention....... suits us fine i reckon :thumbsu:

Do you think we are going to have a big season KPR?

maybe not a big season as such, but i definetly think we will surprise a few teams.... im tipping between 7-9 wins and between 13th-10th..... which doesnt sound like a great year, but i think we will re-establish a home ground advantage, beat a couple of the top tier sides, win two derbies and blood some great young talent. if injuries are kind we could even scrape into the 8.... but we will surprise a few people and show that we are going to have one helluva future

I absolutely agree.
Re-establishing home ground dominance is of vital importance for 2009.
We should include derbies in that as well. If West Coast can pull up their frilly little socks win some home matches as, it will go to making Subi THE House Of Pain again.
Realistically we are going to have to blood in a lot of green talent. Yeah we still have some decent experience around the place but we do not have the depth.
The fades outs must stop. Being up by decent margins at three quarter time and losing must be erased. Either by putting a side to the sword (which we never have really done much) or learning to stall and strike we have to fix this.
Even if we lose a match and we have we try to the very end I shall be happy. No more BS, The signs were good towards the end of last season.

yeah, harvey has to instill into teh guys a confidence and almost aura when we are winning.... we need to get that home ground advantage as it is one of the few advantages we get as an interstate club

I agree with KPR that this is a more likely games won, ladder position that we will finish in 2009. I think that this season we will see glimpses of what the future holds and see potential in players that will be there circa 2011 when we really start to hit or straps:D

How about telling our Club.
No#1. Win home games...No matter what the cost, even if means we send 2nd a rate side for away games. We should be rotating to ensure all home games we field our best ream.

No#2. Beat the WC Easybeats. Do all of the above and we get a finals game.

FFS it's not that hard. It's called focus.
We all saw what happened last year at some of our home games. FLICK the away games ....win at hoooome. !!

Grand final is an away game

the most important thing i think, is that we are patient, allow the kids to develop, start winning some home games and take the confidence from there. i think if all goes well we can hit the 8, but we need the stars to align... 2010 and 11 are going to be where we really start to send shivers into the hearts of the resto of the league :thumbsu:

To be honest I think there is just too much else going on in the world to worry about a side that finished 14th last year...I personally like the fact we are flying under the radar, lets hope it last's right up untill round 1

I blame the eagles. Usually this time of year their players are running around punching each other, crashing cars, running from the cops and/or hiding murder weapons for bikies. Their loverboys in the media need a diversion to take the heat off them so they write stories about Freo instead.

But besides Masten doing his best to uphold the eagle way of life the media has had no reason to drag out their usual "Look! A purple bear!" stories.

You guys are complicating this waaaaaaaaay too much. There is only one important thing. Only one thing at all, really. Score more points than the guys not wearing purple. I'm pretty sure that will be the only aim this year.

Simple game, footy.

Could it just be that you guys are irrelevant.:p

maybe, or it could be that none of the dockers officials get down on their knees for the west coast eagles media......... just a thought , woosha is at an advantage though.... he can prescribe himself his own throat medicine and through glen jackovich's think safe industry contacts can probably score himself some cheap KY Jelly
