Here on the grape vine that the Mcphails (dicks) offered money to Milawa to throw the grand final! Mustn't have faith in the club and its players

Yep heard I heard rumour as well he is on the move , been told the Billabong Crows are into him up to there ears , part of the deal is a 2 year contract , with his new best little mate as his assistant coach and 2 blocks of land in Oaklands as a sign on fee plus they're going to buy him a heap of cattle and a cattle trailer cos he keeps stuffing the one he lends .
I think you need to go back to school trooper70 because your grammar and spelling is pathetic as well as your knowledge of country football. Norman will never leave glenrowan

I have heard Bonnie Doon is a great surface this year. But unless things have changed over the last year or two its a terrible ground for supporters. No shelter. terrible changerooms. Finals are about the supporters as much as the players as they want to get as many there as possible. The travel would turn people off too. Best to just stick to what we do with Tarra and Milawa. Although Whorouly and North Wang I think should host some of the first finals.

This weeks games.
Bonnie Doon over Valley 30pts
Bright over Nrth Wang 150pts
Whorouly over G'Bat 80pts
Glenrowan over Greta 90pts
Moyhu over Benalla 50pts
Milawa over Tarra 15pts

A lot of poor games this weekend except Doon vs Valley and Tarra vs Milawa. Doon vs Valley is interesting because it will happen 2 weeks in a row. Think Doon will win both comfortably. Tarra have been winning for most of the second half of the season so I would think that they will be close to Milawa this weekend but Milawa too strong. Bright vs Tarra first week of finals will be a good game. Both sides better than the other 2 bottom finalists. Think whoever wins that final will end up playing Milawa in Pre-lim. I think it will be Bright vs Milawa in Prelim. But even with recent resulst I think Milawa vs Glenrowan final with Glenrowan to win by 20 points.
Whats everyone elses thoughts on finals?

Good summary. Unfortunate that Bright and Tarra will meet first up, because neither side deserves to be knocked out in the first week. Hard to see it being anything other than a Glenrowan v Milawa GF. Milawa showed enough on Saturday to suggest they will be too good for Bright in a final. But there could be a twist or two to come yet. Can't see Glenrowan being beaten.

Baker Medal this Sunday. For mine it will be 1. Karl Norman 2. Jack Stamp 3. Ben Bond. Josh Evans should be up there too, but I reckon the BD boys will take votes from one another.

Bonnie doon has done a shitload of work there this year! Very supporter friendly compared to a few years ago!

Karl Norman should win the medal but it wouldn't surprise if he didn't . He ll either loose it or romp home and win by 12 plus votes .
No one could begrudge stampy winning it although hooper Clarke and Hamilton will take votes . Bond will get plenty as will mcgheehan don't be surprised if steve nightingale polls more than expected . Apples and Sanger will be Tarras best .
Milawa and bonnie doon should get the job done this week but I do say should . If so bonnie doon and tarra will get through the
The first week . Bonnie doon will be no push overs come finals they are well structured and I believe they're better than given credit for . Overall a great finals series looming that is capable of surprises and even contests , hopefully rather than what seems obvious .

thoughts on the reserves finals series ? Who'll win the reserves flag and medal ?

I've put together my team of the year. Tough one this year with a lot of key players missing plenty of games. I've tried to include players who played at least 14 games so far, but Nathan Hooper and Brent Newton, who are both on 12 each, had to be included. Toughest spot for me was full back. There haven't been as many key defenders that have really stood out this year, so I've plonked Steve Nightingale there (he did play there last week). Lachie Cohen unlucky to miss out.

B: D McCormick, S Nightingale, J Collis
HB: M Scott, S Williamson, J Roman
C: T McDonagh, K Norman, M Charleston
HF: S Galea, B Newton, J Stamp
F: J Evans, T Buckley, N Hooper
Foll: J Bell, J McGeehan, B Bond
Int: H Fidock, D Salmon, M Robinson

KV have a strong reserves side, Glenrowan are obviously strong and on top of the ladder but unsure how any they have that have over qualified?

Greta, Tarra and bright all pretty strong seconds sides.

League medal
Karl normal 1st
Mcgeehan 2nd
Ben bond 3rd

Nonch I've been told bright lost both the mounsey brothers in the milawa clash. Any truth to it?

Neither played against Milawa. Dylan Mounsey is out for the season after tearing a bicep against Benalla. Not sure what Jake was out with, but Regan said he could be back this week. Francis Kinthari was supposed to be back from NT last week, but never showed up, so I'd say it's doubtful whether he will be back. James Love is out for the season after reinjuring his shoulder. If they'd had a good run I maintain that Bright would have been a genuine premiership chance, but they have had shocking luck.

is anyone a genuine chance of knocking Glenrowan off if the weather is dry? I know Milawa beat them a few weeks back when conditons were atrocious and I think any team is beatable when conditions are like that, but being an unbiased outsider of this league are they vunerable on a dry day or do they have to many aces in the pack to see anyone being able to get over the top of them?

Last year in the twos KV came 6th after 18 rounds yet made the GF because they did a brilliant job of stacking the twos with a handful of senior players. Having looked at the results last weekend & who played in the twos they appear to be at it again. They've probably a very good reason for doing so, so good on them.

I really don't understand why a club would stack their seconds. I would have thought that the best players play and get picked in the seniors.
Not too many people would be attracted to a club because they won a seconds flag.
But yes I understand having a strong club across the board is a good sign.

Which brings me to another point. What are clubs going to do say like Glenrowan and King Valley that regularly have players play two games come finals time?
Would you risk say a Matt Robinson in a final playing two games?
