If they dish up what they did on Saturday again. They will be lucky to get within 10 snags of Bright

What 7 goals up at half time is crap is it? Yeah may have only won by 4 goals but king valley threw everything at them and as a good side does they responded! I was there I didn't think doon played that bad at all!!

Watching both games on the weekend Saturday was a very low standard compared to bright, I think both games this weekend will be crackers!

I thought Bonny were complemented by some very ordinary patches from the Valley. But they are clearly a well coached unit, so i hope they bring thier A-game and put on a good show Sunday.

The Tarra ground felt pretty spongey under foot and with 10-20ml on the radar during the week. I think we could have some slightly sloppy conditions on our hands for the big game, hope the furniture brothers shout the lads some good treads for the conditions.

I think your right Saturday set to be a great game, the match ups are a key, the difference will be if Norman or Newton get on top, Williamson/Cunningham, grey/Clarke and Hamilton/monteith, thoughts?

I've never been a Williamson fan, i guess seeing him fail so miserably at O&M seconds level brought that on though.
Clarke and Stampy need to fire for Milewa to be able to post a decent score for mine. If Newton turns it on i guess thats a big chance to happen, but he faces a monumental task!

Williamson has been one of the most consistent players in the comp since joining Milawa, and is definitely one of the most valuable players given the fact he never gets beaten at either end of the ground. Newton was BOG when Milawa beat Glenrowan a few weeks back and Normo was second best, so which one plays better probably isn't going to decide the match. One won't nullify the other as apart from the odd ruck duel they won't play on each other too much around the ground. Having said that, if Newton can spend more time at CHF he could be the match winner for the Dees, because they need a target there.

For mine it comes down to conversion and forward pressure. Milawa needs to make the most of its opportunities and not allow the Glenrowan backs to control play. If Max Scott, Fraser Elliott, Nick Lawrence and Luke Fox are allowed to sweep freely across half back and pick up plenty of touches Glenrowan will be on its way to another GF.

it agree totally there, I beleive it will also come down to what mids work harder and kick more goals, I think all in all we are set for a great game!

I wont argue that Bomma has played above the level i thought he was capible of the last two years, but if he puts in a similar effort to last years granny they will be better served with and empty box of Tooheys red sitting in the goal square.
If Newton doesnt give his mids first use of the ball everyones attention might aswell turn to whether the Nobbler can tip a couple legs of the quaddie.
Let all hope the games still alive in the last quarter because i can see the crowd being abit lubricated and lifting the roof off the place!

Bomber had a knee injury going into the grand final and could barely walk around on it from memory, so the fact that he played at all was pretty remarkable.

Why didnt he put his hand up to sit it if he was that bad?
Surely if he had deteriorated from the Tarra we would have know he was cooked, even though he did pull a rabbit out that day.

Having a point system in our league is an absolute load of crap and not even needed. 5 different clubs have won flags in the last 7 years

Yeah but 3 of those 5 flags were bought! I think more points should be allocated for the 1st year of the system being in place, then maybe lessen the points yearly until they get where they wanna be

Good luck too clubs who buy them, they always end up back too where they started eg nth wang. And very likely glenrowan will drop right away again too. All this point system will do is help the teams that are no good and can't recruit. Plus bright has a ridiculous advantage of how many locals they can call on compared too every other club

Bright have also had the advantage of having their thirds attached to the club and a lot of them are still playing there from what I can tell over the years. The thirds going down the drain has killed the ovens and king, just as much as the need to pay people to play for a club. the clubs that can sustain a core group of handy players and bring the young guys through to play with them are the ones that have long term success, that doesn't always mean a flag but it does mean you don't do the good old O&K peak and trough of winning a flag one year and dropping away to nothing. So they need a reason besides winning every week to stay at a club and therein lies the challenge.

That up and down will more than likely happen again now with the clubs at the top of the comp, and someone else will have their temporary turn at so called success

On this very forum you've bagged lower clubs & been dismissive of anyone offering an opinion that suggested Glenrowan's success had anything to do with cash. Now you're effectively saying the opposite!

Why is it a "ridiculous advantage" having local players playing for their local club? Isn't that what country footy is all about?

It's just plain wrong, having all these homegrown players at the one club! o_O

Although I suppose they do have the disadvantage of not being able to recruit anyone from outside the area, given the geographical isolation and all...

Glenrowan just looked too classy and quick. They never really looked in danger of losing the lead. Milawa just looked a little bit too heavy, and the couple of injuries they got didn't do them any favors. Matt Robinson was the stand out for me, barely got beaten all day. The whole glenrowan forward line looked dangerous.

I also watched the Bonnie doon bright game Sunday. Similar case, although Bonnie doon had a good number of top notch players, they also have a lot of heavy body's. Bright were just too quick, athletic and silky. They move the ball forward really well.
If bright get Buckley back next week I think they will beat milawa, but don't think they will quiet have enough to beat glenrowan
