Why ask me, according to you I don't know anything but I'll point you in the direction of the O&K website. A bit of investagative work will tell you many games he's played(2snr,1res) and whether he's eligible.
In my opinion if sims plays for the remainder of the year it will be 2's, only because after seeing him play last week, he seems to be struggling a bit with his knee, obviously fitness down on last year but could still make an obvious impact in senior football, but doubt newton would play an unfit bloke in the 1's.

On his eligibility to play 2's finals, i think he's only played twice in the 1's, so doesn't matter how many 2's games he's played as long as he's played 3 games in total for the year, but as long as both sides are in the finals he could've played 18 senior games for the year and been eligible for 2's!

U/18's- Murray Bennett, R/Up Aaron Espejo

Heard there was a cameo appearance by Wang's finest sports writer at the B&F count last night.....Also heard he was swamped by swooning groupies after his turn at the microphone!!!! Any truth Nonch :D:D:D

How are the grounds for this weeks finals all looking??

Blacks ground is in good shape and the teams playing on it will be happy to be on a ground with good grass coverage and no mud.

Yeah got put on the spot a bit slim - no one bothered pointing out those swooning groupies to me though:(

Greta win by Nutta considering the games he missed - surprised that Liam Harrington and Jack Stamp didn't poll higher...

Was surprised that a lot of others didn't poll that well or at all in some cases. Must have a fair bit to do with hair colour or lack of it.:D

Great to see "Shooter" take out the youth coach of the year award as well...:thumbsu:

Yeah I guess you're always gonna get a few strange ones. The final round in u18s Cartledge from North Wang needed one vote to win it. Was named second best in a 10 goal win over Milawa, but couldn't get a vote, while Roman from Milawa got best on to win the trophy. Roman was eight votes behind with three rounds to go!

And 12 goals couldn't even snare the three in that game against Tatong! Lucky he wasn't there - somebody could have been glassed over that:eek: Went to a bloke who wasn't even named in the best six...

For a player to kick 12 goals in a game and have the three votes go to a player not even named in the best 6 is an absolute joke!!!

The Baker Medal should be decided by the opposition coaches votes.
At least the coaches actually know what a player's role is and whether or not he has done it well.

This is not the AFL! Surely common sense has to prevail.

I think your forgetting the votes are given from the umpire's perspective of the game. Midfield players are around them prodominately, as well as gaining the most touches. old 12 goals must have just finished off all the good work by the blokes further up the ground! how many backmen recieved votes??? not many. they work harder than anyone with no recognition

That's my point Trot. The votes are being awarded by two blokes that don't even know what "prior opportunity" means.

If a full back keeps a gun full forward quiet, the opposition coach will recognise that. Umpires don't, because the full back hasn't deemed to have done anything special.

I've blown the whistle a couple of times in my day and you're spot on about noticing the blokes around you more. That's where it's unfair.

The opposition coaches know what's going on and what a player's role is. If a tagger restricted Nutta to 5 possessions, he's done a great job. But if he only had 5 himself, the umps wouldn't even notice him.

And no disrepect to Nutta in receiving the Baker Medal. A fine achievement considering he missed a handful of games.

BRING ON FINALS!!!

The problem there TGN is the a lot of the coaches think giving the media award votes is a pain in the arse and don't want to do it. It's also open to bias, you only need to look at some of the votes given by coaches/clubs on gameday....

I have to say that im impressed with the leagues decision to swap the reserves football and C grade netball Elimination finals from All blacks ground to the showgrounds. Makes it much easier for Greta to co-ordinate players, trainers, coaches and officials etc.

BK, how's the ground, will I be able to get away with wearing my Mocco's or will I need long stops
A little soft slim but it should hold up alright. The cricket pitch might get a little chopped up by the end of the day. You might need some hybrid Mocco's with stops just to be safe :D

Looks a hundred times better than Nth Wang though, I drove past there the other day and it looked like a bog hole. I noticed that they had fenced off the area outside the clubrooms so I don't think that patch will last long. I can imagine there'd be trouble with parking too as the grass areas around the ground would be very soft. Hope there's a tractor handy to help those unfortunate enough to get bogged!

I'd imagine both Benalla grounds are in top shape?

Showgrounds is a bit soft and Benalla play there tomorrow so it may get chopped up a bit. Ours is pretty wet and squelches in places and also has 2 junior league games on it tomorrow so I imagine it'll chop up too. If the wind holds up overnight and no more rain will help it immensly.
