Bright, Milawa and Tarra were all up and about at the weekend and I can see some great finals being played.......
Bright had blokes popping up out of the ground on sat. More than once I did a mini head count because they just appeared to have blokes everywhere.

Anyone see the Milawa/Whor game. Whorouly thought they may have been a good chance.

With 4 of the top 5 playing each other, there were some big margins on the weekend! Which leaves it see how those in the bottom half of the final 8 go... S'pose there is always going to be a couple of big wins over the final series but does anyone want to see floggings for the first couple of weeks?!

As to the bottom teams, Tatong have worked hard this year. Swanpool must wonder what happened to last year when they were beating Tatong by more than that margin on Saturday!!

If things go according to the script this week NAL, week 1 of the finals will see Bright v Tarra and Milawa V Benalla, all those games should be crackers.
The games in the bottom 1/2 of the 8 should be the same........We all hope..

Seniors ladder wont move much i wouldn't think. Looking at the reserves ladder its closer then the seniors ladder a few swaps could be in place after this round If doon dogs get up this wknd could make the 8 an if nth wang lose they could slip out. Greta and moyhu will play for who gets 8th spot or even 7th spot.

just as a matter of interest, who are the selectors for the Team of the year.....

tips for this week:

Benalla over Doon 4 goals
bright over Glenrowan by 120 points
Goorambat over swanny by 12 goals
Moyhu over Greta by 23points
Nth Wang to potentially be slaughter by Milawa by 180 points (warming up for finals)
Tatong to also be potentially slaughtered by Tarra by 181 points
Whorouly to beat KV by 60.

Something out of left field>>>> swanny beat goorambat to get off the bottom, Nth Wang get belted and drop 2 spots to finish on bottom by percentage. what are the odds?

pretty good I'd say

This saturday will be the start of the downward trend

Pretty long I reckon. For North Wang's percentage to drop below 25.00 (G'bat currently 24.91) they would have to go scoreless, while Tarra would need to score 2146 points. So yeah, probably not all that likely...

I was hoping someone had the time to work it out. Yes perhaps unlikely but wouldnt rule it out!:D

We'll have to wait and see Prez, in certain publications the Panthers were rated to be either 8th or 9th by the years end. You like many others may have to eat your words

Did as you requested Trot

Me...119
You...113

Whor over KV
Greta over Moyhu 6pts
Milawa over NW
Benalla over Doon
Bright over G/rowan
Tarra over Tatong

Match of the rd.
G/bat and Swannie a draw

Probably one of the youngest senior sides Greta has named in recent years.
Rempel, Cleeland, Brooks, Fruzynski, D. Nichols, O'Connor, Graham and Sherratt probably between 19-23. Only "veteran" named; Paul Hogan.
Will be interesting to see how they go against Moyhu tomorrow and could be a good sign for the future...

TGN no point pumping up the tires!!!!! Some sides have that at present!!! Milawa would have 8 without thinking to much as would Tarra!!!

We're in a similar boat with probably 7 or 8 and most of them are now have50-70 plus games under their belts and that's good for all clubs. These guys are the future core of your team and club. Throw your veterans in you have a good mix.
Unfortunately for you guys TGN, there may be a few too many veterans after looking at last weeks side..:D. Good to see Big Andy still capable of snagging a few though..

I see Sims lining up in the Milawa 2's again this week, anyone want to guess how many he will snag....
What's the real story behind Sims? Has he been injured or pissed off with the club (which was a rumour floating around). Heard he has hardly been around the club since he last played. I'm not Milawa hating, just curious to where he has been...

Don't think I've pumped their tyres up AG.

Just wondering how such a young senior side will go. They could get flogged, or they could be competitive and possibly snag a win. Might be a blessing in disguise with all the injuries Greta has had to give the youngsters a run, although a couple of the players would've been picked in the best 21 anyway.

It's also a good promotion of the thirds competition with most of those players progressing through the ranks.

And just had a quick look at the Milawa starting 18 for this week and wouldn't have thought there'd be too many 19-23 in that. A lot of good players around the 24-27 age bracket that have transferred from the O&M that Greta would hope their youngsters turn into.

Hopefully most clubs can keep their junior talent, then the league will have a strong and bright future :thumbsu:

I don't think he is pumping up any tyres - only making a general comment about a club which he has played at for a number of years.

He has come from the era where Greta put all of their faith in ageing players, who only gave a small handful of juniors a go (I'd suggest most teams would be in a similar boat). Through a lot of hard work over the last few years with our thirds, we have been able to retain a fair few players, who have played a number of senior games due to us sucking severly for a few years.

It is fantastic for he league that each team having a number of youngsters playing senior football and in a lot of cases carrying teams/being in the best - which has been the case for us in a number of games.

Slim - Andy & Col played due to a number of players being unavalaible for last week.

And I think you're being a little harsh on the boys last week. Andy was a late call-up because the Great Man was off saving the planet:eek:. Including Hoges, the only other player the wrong side of 30 was Col McClounan who is still a pretty handy bloke to have running around with the youngsters.
And the side still roughly contained 6-7 of those young players I mentioned before.

Moyhu got done at Serenity Stadium a few weeks back, so should make for an interesting clash this week.

Good luck to all teams for the final round:thumbsu:

Really starting to believe "No GUNS,No Greta".....

And in terms of Veterans we still had Wozza Finnis playing 1's after he had turned 50 :eek::eek:. And he was still getting plenty of kicks...

Wondering that my self very handy player to have in the 2s, milawa 2s have been a good side all year!
