Cheers slim and go - Just keeping a check on the ex Violet town boys, and another is playing with Bright (ken Mcfarlane) any reports?

McFarlane has had a pretty solid season. Started the year in the twos and was probably their best player before coming into the ones mid-year. Has been a good player in a very strong back six.

It's a little disappointing to have to play Tarra at their home ground, would much rather play at a neutral ground like the friendlies oval in Benalla. Although we have played them there before and got close so hopefully with our full side we might be able to give them a nudge.

Game has been switched to Wang Showgrounds now due to all the rain predicted for Fri/Sat.

tips for the week-
seniors
Bright to beat milawa in the wet by 12 points
Doon to beat tarra by 1 point
Reserves
Benalla over Milawa by 6 points
Bright to beat tarra by 20 points
Thirds
Nth Wang to beat Whorouly by 30 points
Benalla to Beat Bright by 20 points

I see the VCFL have finally handed down the long awaited findings from the exhaustive study into the state of junior football in the Benalla region....

No change.......What's that, no change.......not for another 12 mths anyway..........Gee I'm glad they spent all that money on the study.

No 3rds for Tatong,G/bat or Swannie in 2011....

Would like to know what "the study" actually consisted of... Speaking to the Swannie coach a few weeks back he couldn't understand why they weren't allowed have thirds when the Doon is. He reckoned they would easily have fielded a side this year...

pigs arse they would have easily got a thirds side together. the study indicated there was less participation in the A division, let alone having a further 20 kids to play at swanny.

as you know nonch, Doon's first pref was to go to the YMVFL and they had to have 3rds to go there.......

Anyway the nett result of Doon having 3rds was one less Mansfield side in the Benalla junior comp because that's where most of them came from...

Will the ovens and king eventually loose the 3rds
Competition?? There is only a couple sides with decent numbers, would be sad to see it go that way!

Hopefully not KIA. The VCFL apparently have a "Grand Plan" to retain kids in footy. They seem to start disappearing once they get to about 12 yo.

I don't think it's just footy that faces the problem, most sports have heaps of kids participating at the lower entry levels but face the same dissipation rates as they get older....

Swannie have been gunning for 3rds since they were in the b&d, the fact of the matter is if they allowed these clubs to have 3rds it would fold the u/17 comp in the junior league and regardless of what these clubs may think it will result in less kids playing footy which is definitely not what country footy needs!!

The AFL have a grand plan for kids in footy. The only trouble is you have to live in West Sydney to get the benefits
