Must of been at the wrong ground mate, had at least 35 training last night

heard on the wekend at the Bright practice match that the O & K Thirds comp may not be running this season.

Heard there are only four thirds teams

Is this a sign of things to come

It looks like the O & K is going from strength to strength

When will it become TDFL Division 2

Facts arent quite right. BRIGHT wont be having thirds. With problems trying to get the junior league over there to cooperate, kids over playing footy and or a certain O&M team offering the kids to play at a higher level have reduced there numbers.

In the worst case the comp will be reduced to 6 teams. THERE WILL BE A THIRDS COMP.

Who would be the six teams trotta. I would imagine that milawa, and tarra would have sides?

Moyhu and Glenrowan along with Bright are the only clubs at this stage that will be without 3rds this year. Tarra, Milawa, Whorouly, Benalla and until recently Bright have always been strong. Big questionmark over Nth Wang and Greta this year, apparently King Valley will struggle but should have the numbers.

Benalla, Tarra, Whorouly, Nth Wang, Miliwa look like having a team. a few of them have 20 odd to choose from, where as King Valley and Greta may have that combined. KV and Greta thirds may play as one.

Will the thirds comp run under the same draw as the seniors, or wll they run a seperate draw like they did a few seasons back. That was a disaster

Glenrowan & Moyhu havent had thirds. I think its twice a year the thirds travelled to a different location to the seniors. With changes to the comp it may have another game away or a bye. Sandy is in the process of making up a final draw based on the teams available.

When will clubs know wots happening trot, bit hard on the kids not knowing if there is a game next week or not. How hard did Bright try for 3rds, will they have a side next year?

Merge between KV and Greta looks finalised. Bright say they tried as hard as they could.Dont know first hand what its like over there. Have to take there word. Wouldnt be an easy decison. official draw out.

Did anyone watch Tarra vs Bright on the weekend?? what were the scores and what was the game like both have picked up alright???

Any of you folks interested in taking the cyber-field in a pretend team? :p

Regional Leagues Fantasy Footy League?

Seeking interest in players for a Regional Leagues fantasy footy comp.

This is a) not real footy and b) not pick-a-team-of-AFL-players footy. Its even lazier!

All you do is express interest, I'll do the rest via QOOTY, a crappy random aussie rules simulator I created years ago and have been trying to bring up to speed. FAQs here : http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75728

I'll try to collate a league of teams that are representative of the more popular local leagues here, so I need raised hands from the posters. I won't make up any names, I won't allow any sudden new arrivals.

So either post here or PM me if you want your Bigfooty alter-ego registered for a team.

Hopefully we can turn some rivalries into some even more potent partnerships!

I'll probably aim for starting the season, say, end of next week. I MAY have to be an inflexible prick with okaying a team and treating latecomers.

For this season, hopefully the inaugural season of an ongoing league, all we need are 20 players per team. There is already a Fantasy league, more closely based on the AFL clubs, at Bigfooty, here : http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=30 - its into its 7th season and has developed a bit of history! There is also another league at another footy forum site, this year with only 3 teams but had been as strong as 5 clubs in its 3 year tenure.

So get in touch if you're interested. Remember you don't have to do anything apart from dob your Bigfooty nickname in for a spot. Please tell me which club/league of regional footy you would prefer to be aligned with (please state both).

We'll see how we go. If it doesn't happen, ah well, if it happens later than I hope ... I'll still give it a burl.

Onward lads! ...

Bright 11.14 (80) def by Tarrawingee 16.7 (103)
Tarra jst outran them in the final qtr all those practice matches leading up to the game held them in good sted.
Bright were missing a few players also i hear and were inaccurate in front of the sticks. And will continue to miss players for the game today with a wedding being held.

Having watched a bit of Bright at the Weekend , They looked the goods against All Blacks with a few players missing. Blacks looked very young and under sized but fought it out while i was there.I watched the second half of the Greta game and they were smashed . Greta looked to have a few missing.I may have seen the premiers play .Its only early but the gap has grown between top and bottom .

Greta camp say they wouldnt have got near whorouly even with the blokes that have left this year, only one game in and it seems its already a race for 2nd prize only

Were the the kids the Blacks played the ones we've heard about coming through. If so can you give us an insight on who to look out for

The biggest stand out on saturday would had to of been big Jake Jones, played in the 2005 3rds flag but only played a couple of 2's games last year. Put in a big pre-season and was good in the ruck all day. Ricky Milligan and Matt Levy (also 2005 3rds players) were outstanding as well. Something like a dozen kids from the last 2005/2006 3rds played...........

Anyone tell me how Ruory Reid did for Greta over the w.e? Mate of mine from back in our Junior cricket days and Junior league footy days. Went away to boarding school and then I went as well and haven't heard from him. Was Greta's prized recruit this year from Melb Grammar.

G'day there blokes, just wanting to know if James Mawson and Luke O'keffe are still running around at Millawa. I played there in 2002 and wouldn't mind hearing how they are going. I think James (Horse) was the coach of the two's or something like a couple of years ago. Any info would be much appreciated. Cheers

Smith was good on a wing , looks a player in the making . Irwin will make a solid backman with time . Kellaher looked good . Young Flack aquitted himself well for his size .Jones in the ruck .Hard to judge first up. They are basically the thirds side from the last 3 years with a couple of mid twenties players. Looks like a long year for them . Injuries will hurt , no depth at all .

Having watched both teams on the weekend , Greta will have to many big guns for Blacks . Blacks have no proven goalkickers and there spine looks shakey.Ashman is not the player he was at Benalla , Reaper looked rusty , Willett looks slow , Armstrong isn't getting any younger . Dockery , Wapling ,Cooney & Blekic hold there own against any side . Greta on the other hand have a very smart coach in Wayne Primmer . Blacks have no one to stop Big Andy Haring or Jack Humphries . Hogan is a ball magnet . They missed Nichols hardness last week . Sorragan and Ross were good in there spanking last week . Greta will have to much experience and depth for Blacks . Primmer will have done his homework , it is one game he won't want to lose .Greta to win .

Quite a negitive post there. Thought Ricky Willet (whilst not setting any land-speed records) was pretty handy when moved forward.
Wapling out this weekend and Dockers is a couple away yet which is unfortunate, Blacks are a far better side with him on the field.
Wally's been crook, dont expect anything big from him, he is playing as a leader to help out the kids.
Rate the descission highly to make Cooney captian, did a fantastic job on the weekend and is made of the right stuff to lead a footy side.
Will be a tough one for the Panthers this week but who knows, there is certinally no love lost between the sides, i recommend every one to get down the friendly's and have a look tomorrow.

Dont know much about Christou but Mick is a pretty handy footballer, hard at it depends on the stardard of footy but usually plays on a half back flank or back pocket, change through the middle on occasions, gets the job done every week. Was a GVFL senior player for Benalla in a former life.
