I hope Moyhu do bounce back strongly for when they are up and going they are a very competitive team and lift the standard of the competition. Also being a foundation club you don’t want them to go. I was just saying apart from Glenrowan who have gone they were the next one in trouble and had to do something. Hopefully it builds from the next full season.

As for the “let other clubs develop them” that is fact. A then president who is now involved at Wangaratta told me so after a game where they beat us comprehensively. He said you have some loyal young players coming through, we offered your two best players today a good match fee and they declined. We also have our eye on some of your current thirds players that are standing out. Also went on to say a few other names from other teams they targeted and that declined their offers too.

I think FOTF summed it up pretty well.

I say the salary cap & points system are working to even out the comp, but cite Milawa last season as an exception then you claim they fudged the books! Priceless. Thanks for validating my point.
I think the points are better than the cap for leveling the playing field. Cheongy will stay put for more than one season.

Remove your rose coloured glasses, Milawa went undefeated for the year and another side didn’t win a game.
The salary cap was to stop ridiculous signings, which Milawa still managed to do. The points system is there to discourage the exact situation Milawa have recently created, in poaching Moore from a rival club. It will never be an even comp when cash payments and incentives outside the cap are being delivered.
Milawa robbed Bright by having Hughes kick 5 and never be seen again, it was morally wrong, but wouldn’t expect much more from the club.
If my glasses are rose coloured then yours must have framing nails on the inside of them because you are as blind as you are dumb. The point system for a fact was bought in to counter the likes of what Albury, Kyabram and even the recently never to be seen again Glenrowan were doing. Wroughting the system for consecutive success, cheating if you will. Milawa are able to recruit players as the majority of the list is home grown and that’s a fact known around the whole league. As for Hughes, looks to me he did a lot more for a club that Fev did for your shitheap in a loosing game and that other tossbag Caroll would of come cheap. The cap destroyed your club as you weren’t smart enough to buy players for what they were worth not what they were wanted. That’s why they pissed off back down the Hume when the money dried up fact.

It’s also to stop clubs like Milawa poaching other teams players. (Hamish Moore) Fev often attracted thousands of spectators to home and away games generating record breaking gate takings and creating huge interest in the league from all over the place, he was worth every cent. What did Hughes bring to the league? He kicked 90 goals while Milawa had 3 spectators watching them thump dismal sides and then ultimately robbed bright ( a team full of locals) of a premiership.
On a lighter note I’m hearing Tyrone Vickery is signing at Milawa, he has a strong connection to the club, apparently he once drove through the town.

Just wondering how a team with a playing group of 90% locally born and bred (within 20km) players is considered to be full of recruits? And how they rob a team they beat by 59 points of a grandfinal? You’re a funny little man, maybe someone needs to buy you one of those “my first journalists” kits so you can feel a little proud of your absolute appalling commentary on the league 😂

You seem to forget when you’re dribbling out the side of your mouth that your club was completely full of mercenaries. Apart from 2012 where your team was getting trounced by 300 weekly where some locals were running around. Glenrowan has done the absolute worst thing a club could of done in bringing in a full 20 payed players and have the locals that played there for years go without games and then try to fall back on the locals when the money runs out. I’ve herd that was met with a swift GTFOH by players asked to come back when the mercenaries left. Good ol culture kings at their finest.

They have struggled to recruit players because they cant and wont pay the ridiculous money that these recruits are getting, Ive been there for 20 odd years and have never heard once the comment that let other teams develop them and we will buy them..and cant remember a young bloke being poached from another club, theres been a few experienced players come across wanting success in the early 2000's..
The wheel turns as it did for Milawa and Tarra who were absolutely Horrendous back in the day, to Moyhus credit they never stooped that low

That’s a damn lie, Moyhu have plenty of money, I think the problem is club culture has dropped plenty.

Um, i'd get my damn facts right mate..Moyhu dont have plenty of money, they have just enough to get them by each season that is raised by their hard working supporters, hense my statement cant and wont pay stupid money for players..over the past few years they have plenty of recruits nearly playing only to be blown out of the water by other offers...Creed, McClounan, Murray, Cheong :tearsofjoy: just to name a few.. AND THATS A FACT

Yes the culture has dropped away abit but you cant deny that besides against Milawa they are still very competitive and there top 10 players are still handy players that arent getting paid the fortunes other clubs are paying..if good culture is having players wonder around the clubrooms after a game thinking there shit tastes like icecream after just receiving their $700 to $1000 for 2 hours of fotty while hard working supporters are still cleaning up and working behind the bar, if thats good culture then i must be think different

If I was in charge I’d force a Greta, Glenrowan merge, and get wahgunyah in to the league, this coupled with NW eventually becoming more competitive would make for a far better competition.
You can’t force a merger with a club that is no longer active.
And If you need any more clues as to why Greta didn’t take up the merger offer in 2016 despite battling away that year.....
The proposed deal was this,
Let’s merge I (Jason) will be on the comittee for 2 years and sponsor the club by paying the senior coach who will be Karl Norman, we will bring 5 or 6 players and 2 committee members. The rest can **** off as far as I am concerned. We don’t even have to change jumpers or anything just okay 2 games a year at Glenrowan to keep the locals happy.

If your serious about a merger and preserving the history of your club, rather than just setting up an escape route then you wouldn’t propose that kind of arrangement.

at committee level it was discussed and Greta decided that they would back themselves in with the plan they had in place. Which is paying dividends.
2016 1 win
2017 6 wins
2018 10 wins
2019 11 wins & Elimination final.
2020 was shaping up to be another improvement.
Oh and A grade netball has won 5 Flags in 10 years with every other grade playing finals within the last 2 years.
I think we will keep punching for a few years yet.

Vickery wouldn’t get a game at Milawa!!

So you came up with the one bloke who they recruited this year as an Assistant Coach..well done you dill

And for what it’s worth he could’ve got more at another club but was impressed with what Mark McDonald and Gerard Nolan had to say

Never said he wasn't a good footballer, but you'd be silly to think your hoppers dont throw any coin around

Pretty pathetic of aflNEB to expect umpires to take a pay cut. Who the hells going to donate their time to run around and get abused while players are still siphoning clubs hard earned dollars.
Coaches should tell all players there are no payments for two years, if you don’t like it, piss off.

Totally agree. Umpires are the ones who deserve to be paid. Their role is a job. If their pay is reduced I would expect many of the good umpires may not continue. The standard of umpiring affects the game and in time it might affect crowds.

It’s an AFL Victoria directive that is being applied to every league. But the amount they cut will be important to retaining quality umpires and with future recruiting.

Let’s hope they don’t go the SANFL route of not paying umpires anything! Although that also applies to players and coaches.

So players and coaches have to take a pay cut but umpires don’t?
Are they more important?
Are we all in this together or just parts of the industry?
