So players and coaches have to take a pay cut but umpires don’t?
Are they more important?
Are we all in this together or just parts of the industry?
Yes we are all in this together so let’s look after the umpires and keep the game watchable.
If everyone had your attitude we would end up with completely inept club umpires ruining senior games.
Some players payments are at least 20 times higher than that of a top field umpire, money didn’t become a problem in footy because of umpire payments, if anything they got left behind.

I’m pretty happy for umpires to get paid normally under one condition.
That if Lenny Holden is umpiring a game he shouldn’t get paid a cent!!!
Infact he should be paying the clubs money for listening to his rubbish calls all day!

Lets be honest though fellas, looking like the season won’t be going ahead.
Hope I’m wrong, but it’s looking very glim.

Are players taking a pay cut? The salary cap was reduced by 50% but so will the season, will their per game payments be slashed?

Umpires will face a pay cut, but they already get so little, it won’t be able to be much or there won’t be any umpires left.

With no canteens, bars or social functions, will clubs who pay players be able to pay players at all this season?

Exactly, you cut their pay and Lenny will be umpiring the o&m senior grand finals.
The tdfl senior field umpires get $80 - $120 a game.
The best umpire in the region gets $280 to umpire the o&m senior grandfinal.
Potatoes who couldn’t get a kick in the o&m twos fetch up to $400 per match, probably more out at Milawa.
Non spuds from the o&m that actually can play get up to $1000 a game, so let’s leave the umpires pay as is, or increase it.

I think one big difference here is that for many of the umpires this is a second job and I wouldn’t think it would be much fun for a lot of them.
If they don’t get paid or paid well they would be better off doing something else with their weekends.

The salary cap was reduced by 50% and if the season goes ahead with half the games it would mean the players would get 25% of what they were originally going to get if the season had been a full 18 games.

I would like to see the math on how you came up with that one 🤔.
100% Full cap with full games is 100% player payments.
50% cap with 50% games is still 100% player payments weekly. It would be 50% reductions for the year.
Payments will obviously be slashed to save some coin but if the cap is halved and the games are halved there is still the same money per game to be payed, instead of money per season if that makes sense? Still earning the same amount per time on the job theoretically.

The cap was originally $70,000 and is now $35,000. Let’s just say little Johnny from Milawa was getting paid $1000 a game for 18 games, before the cut he would pocket $18,000.
With the 50% reduction in payments and say 50% less games played, Johnnie would now be getting $500 a game for 9 games, which is now $4,500. Precisely 25% of his pay.
Your scenario makes no sense.
Note: This exact scenario would never happen as we all know little johnnie only plays when the weather is nice or has reached the 5 games to qualify.

Hope your not doing the books out at Milawa! Could be in a bit of strife using your maths. You might want to follow what Fruit said.......

Also I’m hearing today there could be a return to train on the 26th of May. Two groups of ten allowed on the one oval. Not including coaches and staff!
This by no means there will be a return to play anytime soon though!

$70,000 cap for 18 games
$35,000 cap for 9 games
Johnny gets $1,000 a game cash money instead of getting built a house like Norman which brings it to $18,000 for the season. He misses 9 games essentially and gets $9,000?
Now cap reduced to $35,000 but only 9 games of the season to play.
Johnny still takes Home $1,000 a game as it won’t affect the cap Lenny.

Yes technically you can still pay Little queefie Mcgee $1000 a game, but it means he is getting almost 50% of the NEW salary cap to himself.

Ha you still don’t get it.
35k for 18 games which is $1944 per game.
If the season was 10 games the salary cap would be $19,444 for the season.
Understand?
I haven’t seen anything about a reduced cap per game, but I don’t read the paper so I may have missed it. What I said makes sense but obviously doesn’t apply if there have been alterations in place that I’ve missed.
No need to be a dick and stoop to Stevos level too btw

Such misplaced anger, like you I’d seen nothing that said it would be reduced further on a per game basis, however this article says they are correct

Well you didn’t listen the first few time people tried to tell you. Not everyone is having a go at you!
Training hopefully starts in a few weeks. We can all blow off a bit of steam then!

The yearly salary cap has been cut in half. If they only play half of the season it would mean the pay would be reduced by half again. That would equate to 25% of the original payment opportunity.

Hey mate, there are math tutoring classes available for 4-5 year olds, I might be able to pull a few strings and get you in. Imagine being able to count how many cylinders Milawa have firing at one time.
My math was just fine and 100% correct. But without all the variables mistakes happen. I own that as I already stated. Easy to make mistakes without all the facts.
If you had an ounce of credibility to your name people might buy what you’re selling. But when you single handedly destroyed your own club, (for the betterment of the league mind you) it’s hard to take anything you say at face value.
Hearing good things from Melbourne leagues about possible restarts on the basis that a lot of things all line up. Be good to see some footy back so we can talk footy instead of hearing about the lack of intelligence from Stevie wonder

With no bar and without gate takings what hope does a club have
Spot on.
Unless you’ve got a mysterious money tree or can comfortably recruit good blokes who play for free, it’s going to be very tough. Generating a profit whilst remaining $20,000 under the salary cap could be a thing of the past.

With no bar and without gate takings what hope does a club have

Just want to pose a question - Will more players come to training now or less??
With no guarantee of a season and blokes losing interest with no footy. Will they be that interested to train? Each club might be different
