I never knew that either. Thanks nicky

But seriously if anybody ever corrected me on that I would fight them.

Lots of phrases change meaning over time depending on how the majority of people use them. e.g. "that's a moot point" originally meant "that's open to debate". Now it means "that doesn't matter".

Language evolves, it's not a big deal.

When talking about a comeback or underdog: "But somebody forgot to tell" or variation of

i.e. With the blues 30 points up and playing well in front of their home crowd all was on track. But somebody forgot to tell........................... who then came back etc etc

A high rise apartment was being built in suburbia. But Battler Joe never read the script ..............

Seriously wtf does it even mean? Tell them what?

" (insert word here) is good for football"

BTW, in regard to other posts on this page I think the term is "coralled" as in confined or hemmed-in

Phrases used in job ads probably deserve a thread of their own e.g. "hit the ground running"

I hate when footy commentators use the term 'Mercurial' to describe a great mark or goal. It doesn't mean anything like that.

I see your 'mercurial' and raise you a 'majestic.'
