Lol jumps on Bigfooty on a Saturday morning to rinse an 18 year old (and his 22 yr old brother) playing his first game of AFL.

You’re a loser Trav
Thanks for the kind words.

Dropped chest marks is my biggest pet hate in footy. There are no excuses. First game or 300th game.

Angus Brayshaw drops one every week.

Now back to your depressing team board.

7 concussion...you have to wonder about the long term effects and whether it’s worth it. So far Paddy hasn’t shown a lot to indicate that he has a long career ahead of him , the concussions just adds more concerns .

His health should be a priority not his career.

I hope it's not the case but the damage may very likely already be done.

He should really stop playing footy asap.

Concussions aside, his brother (Tom) looks significantly better.
No he doesn't.

Everyone having a dip at Paddy's stats and time on ground a etc etc FAIR ENOUGH.

But don't tell me he doesnt have amazing football skill. PADDYS HIGHLIGHTS ARE BETTER THAN MOST KPPs have you seen them?? Hes taken screamers, kicked great goals amazing contested Marks.

Paddy has diabetes, speed issues and conclusion issues.

He is probably cooked. OUR recruitment/whoever's in charge are responsible for horrible.choices.

Anyone with half a brain could see Petracca was the modern choice and given diabetes? Choice shouldve been a no brainer

Then again we choose billings a small Forward vs Bont a modern day beast. Dal.santo TOLD US Ffs.

Luke Beveridge is a saints man. He won flags everywhere he went. Yet we chose a STUTTERING FAILURE FRUIT loop in RICHO.

Sackings need to be made. Oh yeah we also went and hired SACKED fitness coach who ****ed Richmond for years we thought come.to us!!!

And to finish off half our assistant coaches have NEVER played AFL.

We are a disgrace

Speed (and agility). You hit the nail on the head.

He has none what so ever, and it's absolutely mandatory in the modern game. Watching Tom last night and the eay he moved you can tell straight away that he's a vastly superior McCartin.

TO those in the know, why was he considered number 1? And he wasn't even our first pick!! We got rid of Petraca to take this farsical player!?

He is a VFL level player.

I have this conspiracy theory that the draft is now manipulated. The kabal has learnt their lesson when Stkilda got a legitimate number 1 draft pick, Nick Riewoldt.

To avoid having a team like stkilda rise up the ladder again, they put in fake number 1s like Paddy McCartin. Stkilda, foolishly fall into this trap and try and get these number 1s, when in fact they are just VFL players.

Your club wanted a key forward

When will clubs learn? Dont take KPF's with your 1st pick. Just backfires more often than not.

I don't agree with that. Most of the best KPF's have all gone in the first round or father/son or zone/academy picks. There are a couple of exceptions but most teams have got their KPF's from first round of the draft (obviously some of them have been traded later). Some names: Nick Riewoldt, Roughhead, Franklin, Kennedy, Jack Riewoldt, Pavlich were all taken in the top 11 picks of their respective drafts. Guys like Hawkins, Daniher, Hogan, Lynch and Cameron would have gone in the top couple if not for teams having priority access to them.

Where I think teams need to be careful is taking big bodied key forwards that rely on contested marking and aren't particularly athletic. Those types tend to not be as impressive at AFL level because of the quality of AFL defenders. That's where guys like Boyd and McCartin haven't quite worked out. Some may include Patton in that group but I reckon he'll come good.

Can this get moved into another McCartin thread?

Anyway he probably is the type of player who shouldn't be picked early because clubs should realise that at AFL level a lot of his absolute strengths are neutralised but he is still going to be good, as long as he stays on the park.

A way of seeing whether a player should be more than just 'potential' is seeing how the prior draft class players in their position are performing - if they are still just 'potential', then it's probably too early to expect a guy a year younger to be much more.

Boyd, McCarthy, Apeness, Gardiner, McStay, Lobb, Pearce, Kolodjasnij, Barrass, Brown (the most standout name, also 3 years older)...

I'd say give him some more time.

Petracca isn't much better TBH

Petracca is in the worst form of his career, but still picked up 20 touches, 5 marks and a goal today as a high half forward.

Expectations of the two of them are poles apart.
