This opening ceremony sounds like a good idea on paper but may not turnout as good practically. Just like that idea of the Grand Final parade on the Yarra all sounded and looked good on paper but was horrible executed. Not trying to compare an Olympic ceremony to the AFL Grand Final parade by any stretch but trying to be different and unique sometimes can turnout overwhelmingly off when all was needed was simple and traditional. Anyway hope it all turns out well I’m kinda looking forward to the uniques of it all.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen and his brothers have released an Olympic song.
They filmed the video at a training camp in St Moritz and spliced it with footage of Norwegians kicking arse.

It’s super cringy but I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be.
Twitter is uncomplimentary about everything and they would have expected some negativity but I like that he’s having fun with it anyway.
There will no doubt be even more twitter backlash if he doesn’t win double gold now.

Yeah I laughed when I saw it. Thought have some fun now because the heat will be on in Paris.
 
A week late for the anniversary but I was a big fan of the Moscow Olympics mascot Misha the Bear. Loved how right near the end the placards held up at the closing ceremony to make his image, moved in such a way to make him shed a tear.

Does Paris even have a mascot? I can't remember seeing one.

But since Roy & HG replaced Syd Ollie and Dickhead with Fatso the Fat Arsed Wombat, they just haven't been any good.

I've picked that up a bit from stuff I've seen on line.

Both SwimSwam and Swimming World have built this up as the race of the swimming meet, but Summer McIntosh gets equal billing.
 
There is a great energy here in Paris a few hours out from the opening ceremony. I don't have a ticket to it but thousands are making their way in to line the banks of the Seine. I think it will be a memorable OC along the river and very unique obviously.

Military and police presence is just incredible. Thousands. Feel like they outnumber people at times.
