As athletes head home I'd be keen to listen to interviews and podcasts of their olympic experiences. If anyone has good links it would be good to post. I'll start with King Kyle

Sadly people in Olympic threads will still be talking about 'her' instead of real athletes.

Give it a few weeks if she takes out that sport from ever being in the Games again let’s call it a win

This will cause an eruption the chief official who knocked back the american appeal , works for the Rumanians in other areas

The head of a panel that ruled that the American gymnast Jordan Chiles had to give up her Olympic bronze medal in favor of a Romanian athlete has represented Romania for almost a decade in arbitration cases, documents show.
The three members of a special tribunal convened for the Olympics by the Court of Arbitration for Sport after Romania lodged a complaint ruled that a successful appeal made by Chiles’s coach over the points awarded to her in the floor exercise competition was initiated four seconds late. The Romanian athlete, Ana Barbosu, was awarded the bronze medal as a result of the panel’s decision, and Chiles was dropped to fifth place.

Almost like judged sports are subjective. Honestly just give 3 medals for 3rd, 4th and 5th how hard is it. The Romanian got docked for some phantom out of bounds deduction herself from all reports. If the objection was late it was late period. That’s on the head coach not following protocols

Are you asking why LA are putting up a 1500 course, why they are getting away with it or why i cant believe it?
1 mainly but a bit of 2.

Would have to feel bad for the Fox sisters getting stuck into their events all the way in Oklahoma City while the rest of the athletes are in LA
Its not that unusual for water sports to be further away or in different accomadation. None of the Rowers in Paris were in the Olympic Village.

That is ridiculously far away from the action for a non football sport.

Then again sailing was in Marseilles about 750km from Paris. Oklahoma City is about double that from LA.

I would have thought some city/county in southern California would have been prepared to spend about $30-40mil USD for a slalom course and it be used for public recreation for decades afterwards, like the Penrith course has been and why Redlands council agreed to fund the course south of Brisbane.

I think the surfers were happy to be half a world away and living on a luxury liner instead of cardboard beds, food shortages & having to share a bathroom/toilet with four or five others.

Think these days sustainability is key. If there is little chance a new canoe course would be used post games, they shouldn’t build it.

Plus they're putting the Softball (and maybe Bassball?) In OKC as well, so if you're going to one event you can check out the other.
