Coaching Staff Past Coach: Matthew Knights - Finally gets his second shot - 5/5

As much as the fans dislike him, I think he will end up seeing out his contract.

Essendon are in a rebuilding phase and I don't think that Matthew Knights is purely to blame for these results. If Essendon get rid of Knights early it will achieve nothing because the list just isn't up to it right now. If you get a new coach they will probably have the same issues until the younger guys develop and the players who aren't up to it retire or get moved on

4 bad weeks, a side that had won twice in 3 years away from home, on the bottom themselves and that's the performance they put in? The coach doesn't wear any of that?

Whilst you have to have the cattle, I think he needs to rethink his gameplan. We had 3 talls forward for much of the night and instead of kicking it long we stuffed around handballing. It's all very well to try to implement something, but if the players aren't capable you have to play to your ability.

I for one was actually surpised at the body language of Knights at the end of the game...
Knights did not even seem to want to be near or amongst his players while they were exiting the ground and he was standing at the race.

Something wrong for sure.

the irony is that Knights got the job over Hardwick

after his time at the Pot Magpies everyone in SA was stunned thatKnights got the job

the word is that Hardwick gave a very honest list assessment whereas Knights talked up the list with his assessment

if the appointement was strange well the contract extension was even more bizzare

Thanks Einstein --- I believe that every poster on here has read this theory at least 100 times.....

just a totally unacceptable outcome!

there have been too many "season defining games", "we are getting ourselves up for this one", "its on the line" games for anyones liking and all it is...is lip service

the efforts by these players out there is just terrible and something is not right down there...whatever it is

you cant beat bulldogs, saints, hawks and then put up that rubbish against crows/dees/eagles without something changing internally within the club.

the club should just be honest and tell it how it is, as i saw no one stand up tonight as they said they would

to let a player kick 12 goals in a game of le cras' hieght and style is a true baromoter of the effort the boys wont to put in at the moment

in my mind kinights is gone and i would welcome any good reasons why the club should keep him as losing to the bottom side by 6 goals at home with apparently so much on the line is totally unacceptable!!

Goodbye Knighter.

It was fun while it lasted. I got a good laugh out of the no ruckman in a final debacle.

The "we are tracking along nicely, except for win-loss ratio" statement.

The lets get belted by a wooden spoon interstate wide at Etihad.

"I welcome the pressure"... :D

Matthew Knights = Peter Rhode.

What happened to the new positive outlook your promised?

Like when he said we would be top 4?

lol, a positive thread amongst the doom and gloom at the time. A thread were no one in their right mine would believe it but at least we can dream and hope.

It's what sport is about. Hopes and dreams. Something Knighter has sucked out of this club... and the board. Ray, PJ and now the rest must depart.

Sayonara chump.

Take your Richmond crap back to Tigerland and let some strong hard winners take over our club. Two years of nothing selections, all talk no action and we have actually gone backwards from Sheeds in 07.

You preach run and carry and take risks yet you pick the slowest side possible on the biggest ground. You preach a youth policy but draft Atkinson who doesn't play and Skipworth who is not good enough to be on an AFL list.

You said you'd give kids a chance but the only guy so far has been Myers while others like Houli, Jetta have been shown no support.

You've had two years to try and construct a functional forward line but you still stick to the old and slow brigade and have not done anythiing to address it.

You have run Ryder into the ground and the kid is 1 game away from breaking down.

The only good things you have done have been forced upon you by injuries.

Thank you for two years of nothing and good luck for the future.

I agree. He's not up to it.

Knights didn't inherit a nothing team. But he's slowing turning into one.

Re: Bye Bye Knights

By your reckoning, the club should have sacked Sheeds before the '81 season after two mediorce years.

Robbed us of 4 flags.

Ironic you say that he should take his Richmond methods back to tigerland considering that sacking coaches before they've had any chance is Richmond's forte.

This is his third year of rubbish. What are we all waiting for?

Will a wooden spoon seal his fate? I hope so.

There is no use in winning anymore games this season.

Apart from pride, which we don't have much of anymore being the laughing stocks of the AFL.

I never would of thought I'd see a time, so soon, that Fremantle would be a top four side while fester on the opposite side of the ladder.
