Quite the cv. In depth knowledge of Freos contract offers for trades and intimate knowledge of Treloar’s medical history.
Neither of these would come as a shock to anyone who knows people at clubland in any capacity. To be fair, I did go off on you a little too much in regards to Treloar - I actually really rate him as a player. He does have injury concerns, but I'm sure you could rebutt and suggest the same about C Curnow who is our little lamb. Infact, you probably know something about a player at our club that I don't know about, such is the way with the internet and how clubland in general works.

Genuinely hope that Treloar does get on the park as he is a serious point of difference for your midfield with that pace. But **** me, just be happy that our rabble of an organisation was able to sign our two biggest concerns all the while undergoing a review!

pls dont kick this bagger while he is down : (

I am not necessarily surprised that he re-signed, I think he has shown all along he has wanted to be at the blues as a one club player. And the blues obviously wanted to keep him and repay some of that faith he has shown in the club in previous years.

I am surprised that Carlton offered 6 years and not 4-5 with the option to sign for 2 more if he met performance criteria. It just seems like such a long time to offer someone when it’s been 18-24 months since we’ve seen him at his absolute best, consistently, week in week out. Look how quickly people have jumped on Grundy this year with his contract terms, for example.

But they are clearly confident that he will recover from whatever is holding him back, and that he will be able to adjust to the changing nature of the game, with less congestion having the potential to reduce his impact in the thing he is best at: contesting the football.

So good on them for backing him in. Today, I am unsure of whether it will prove a success. But I hope for his and Carlton it proves a good signing.

Signed for big Unders and this should quell the massive money argument as he signed for less than Williams and under well under 800k a season.

Of course he has..and it would not shock anyone if we hear he has a..ahem.."non paying" position at Visy or with one of the Blues other major sponsors in the near future

I disagree, I feel like his management team have capitalised on money and years he won't get from anywhere else. Who would offer Cripps 6 x 900k? You can count both Perth Teams out and probably every club bar NM and Gold Coast. 900k for an inside mid that cant play anywhere else...
plays forward too...

maybe, but if that figure is say 750, thats still too much for his output the last few years

Turns up the pressure on Teague a bit more too.

More fuel for the blowtorch until they media get their next scalp if Carlton can't perform to expectations.

It's not an overly good look to sign up Williams and Saad on mega money, then sign up a broken Cripps for 6 more years, and still miss the 8 by miles.

It's good they retained him. I think they owed that to him. But 6 years... yikes. Pressure will be on.

Will make it all up and more with wealthy contacts at the blues

Wasn't the initial talk 4 or 5 years? If so it's probably just stretching out the same money, which doesn't really seem that 'team friendly' when you consider how banged up he is.

As others have mentioned 3rd party deals and you'd think post footy opportunities will be there, this just means his job security is better, for longer

I was ensured Cripps would command 1m and Harry would command 1.2m. Salary cap was BURSTING.

5 years would’ve been about right, though he can have a 6th because he bloody deserves it for carrying us for so long.

On this forum in 6 weeks time both Cripps and Harry will be on 2 million a season for a decade. 🤣

He has also played at a higher level than Merrett.

What is his getting paid? Its not like he is playing 5 games a year - 20, 21, 22, 20 & hasn't missed a game this year.

Has he though?

I could argue they’re on par with each other despite playing very different styles of game.

Merrett underrated outside Essendon. Would argue that Cripps best is better than Merretts best, however - Merrett is more consistent without a doubt. As I said, Merrett is underrated outside essendon for some stupid reason.

Cripps backs Carlton. Carlton backs Cripps. I like it. For $800k/year, I like it even better.

I'm optimistic that the calls of Cripps' career already being in decline are an overreaction.
You like paying 800k a year over 6 years for a midfielder who’s body looks like it’s starting to fail him?

Great to see loyal players staying loyal to their clubs
Good deal for the blues $800k a year for your captain and star players is a good deal and he will improve on 2021
6 years is maybe 1 year too many but who knows that may have a trigger that is the 6th year

Im sure he will be earning more away from the contract as most star players do , Just hope he doesnt drive a bloody hyundai

The way he’s tracking he will be cooked by year 3. Freo wouldn’t have been stupid enough to offer him anything more than 3 years.

Good to see good players stick fat with their poor teams to give them hope moving forward

But 6 years for a guy that has been moving around like a senior citizen for 18 months and whose body looks shot is a bad call

Might be good for club/supporter moral but thats it unfortunately
