Paul Bulluss-any older blokes remember him?

Looks like this off-season we'll be reminiscing heavily on 90's players.

I remember him but I wouldn't have been a teenager. Around 8 or 9 or so. I think he was a bit of a cult figure but he wouldn't have played any more than 100 games surely?

Had a bit of size about him though.

That's all I can remember.

I can remember an ad in the 'Fighting Tiger' saying 'Paul Bulluss is looking for a job! Experienced in retail, bar work... Anything!'

And this was when he was playing!

While on reminiscing, i'm pretty sure that Stuart Wigney ended up working at Olympic Dam or something.

I think he made his way to Hollywood to star in B grade Tarzan movies. I used to love him and Howet. Great hair the both of them. Looked liked they were extra members of Kings of the Sun!

Bully wore the number 21 with distinction....Stuat Wigney, now there's another one.....I remember the day he tore Wayne Carey apart, everyone thought he would make it.....how wrong they were although he did play a few serviceable games I must say.

Went by way of the Balwyn tigers were alot of ex-tigers go after their afl life. Its kinda like how elephants have this sacred place where they go when the end is near.;)

Good idea, we can have a good laugh.......any other come to mind that would be worthy?

My Godfather's son, Jason Taylor, who played for Fitzroy, Hawthorn and Collingwood also spent a lot of time at Balwyn. They had a whole bunch of 1990's ex-AFL players for a while there. Anthony Condon was another one I believe.

By the way, I have a signed Johnny Howatt guernsey. I bought it after the ressies won the 1997 grand final. I have also got a signed Jason Ramsey jumper (I thought he was gonna make it!)

IIRC he made a South Australian State of Origin side too didnt he?

Sure did - he played V the vics at the MCG.

I remember him playing for us asgaisnt the dockers at Subi - the one and only time i have been to Subi.

We came from behind and he kicked the winning goal. After he had just made a shocker of mistake minutes earlier. Round 16 1995.

See, I remember Ross Funcke but not the way he played. Was he just a flanker?

I was a Clay Sampson fan for his short time at the club. I know that's more late 90's but still. Thought he could be a good player. Always got excited when we got new players from the trade periods.

Aaron James, again late 90's, never really liked the way he player too much. Didn't really have a position.

Was a fan of Ashley Prescott too. Serviced the club well, I thought.

Trying to think of those we haven't talked about in a while (aka not Rory Hilton and Razor Hall).

well lets just say this that whatever you suggest here about who the tiges need and who should be in the team, should be immediately burnt and destroyed.
As for the Balwyn tigers, Minty went down there and cap/coached them as well. I think they had Bulluss and Minty in the team and there was another ex tiger playing for them too. ;)

There's a beauty, Mark McQueen.....
Career Games: 34, Goals: 14 Behinds: 21
Most goals in a game: 2 vs Hawthorn 1994
Most possessions in a game: 29 vs Melbourne 1992

I remember Bulluss well, he always ran around as if his bootlaces were undone. Was all knees and elbows. He had the headbanger hair....as an added bonus he often had it in a magnificent ponytail...!!

On a dry day at the G it looked as though Bully was playing in a Moorabbin bog. He beat Stewart Loewe in a couple of games when Loewe was at his peak, and maybe I'm selling him a bit short but that was about it for Bully.

He probably wasn't quite a Brownlow fancy when he had long hair, but once he got his hair cut, of course his odds drifted a bit.

Apparenly he was a great bloke. Had cult figure written all over him.

he had the art of giving away a free and hurting the player getting the free as much as possible down pretty well.
He and scotty turner were solid down back for a while.

Hahaha yes I remember that! Classic... He actually ended up getting a job at channel 9 in the props department.

Loved Bully, met him a few times and can tell you he was one funny bloke! I will never forget his total domination of Stewart Loewe and the way he used to make sure his spoils would end up with a fist in the back of the head!!!

Should have also won the Fos Williams medal in the state game he played against Victoria. Very serviceable and underrated player IMO.
