I'm not following?

- In any dynasty game, 3 first rounders for a gun player is fair game.
- In real life, there's no way an AFL club would trade picks 1, 4 and 17 for Trent Cotchin and some fillers.

Compare it to other trades that have gone through
Dan Hannebery & Tom Stewart for Kade Kolodjashnij & Girffin Logue
Compare that to
Trent Cotchin & Mark Baugley for Will Hoskin Elliot & Jacob Weitering

Crunch the numbers, BILC gets a significantly better deal than the Hannebery one.
I always try to convert players into picks and then compare. In my opinion..

Weitering is still worth Pick 1 - 3
Berry is worth between Pick 10 - 15
WHE is worth between Pick 10 - 15

Mayne and Bags have very little value.

Does Pick 2, Pick 10 and Pick 14 for Cotchin look fair?

I personally think it is in the ball park.

The most intangible part of the deal is where your team is at. Realistically, I'm probably not going to win the flag for another 4+ years.

The numbers obviously don't add up right now but it's better off to trade Cotchin when he's somewhere near peak value and get 3 young guys in. It gives you another 3 bites at the apple.

Don't disagree with any of this, but so far this year I think WHE is showing why he was a top 5 pick.

A lot of GWS kids just don't get the opportunity to show off their talents until after they're traded.

Stoney absolutely raping Bachar there - when I saw the email I thought there would be picks involved but if its just players than its horrible from Bach IMHO
You're still living in short term world man. This is totally a fair deal for a rebuilding team in a dynasty league. I tried to get Stoney to part with WHE and he wouldn't talk on him so Bilc had to give up something pretty special to get such exciting youngsters. I think this deal is win win, what use is Cotch for Bilc when his team is near the bottom? We all have different priorities and ways we play which is what makes a dynasty league so fun. I copped heaps of crap over some of my deals but i love all of them and i have an awesome young team so not surprised to see 1 or 2 other rebuilding teams shedding older guys too now.

Stoneys tradetable has a few youngsters -

Todd Marshall (Pick #16 last year) - forward
Harry McKay (Pick #10 in 2015) - forward
Stoney's Superstars 1st Rounder 2017

Willing to trade for anyone who would enhance my best 22. They can be old, and they don't have to be superstars.

Jake Stringer is on the table if anyone wants to trader an older star.

They're pick number is irrelevant once they actually start playing the game. Otherwise Carlton and Melbourne would have shared the last 10 flags.

I guess it comes down to how much you rate WHE - I probably don't rate him highly as some - so if he turns out to meet everyone's best expectations it might become a better trade.

FWIW I also think I said the Hanners trade was insanely bad at the time

Yea yes we're well aware of your opinion on planning more than 6 months ahead in a dynasty league. And yet despite your opinion I've had more than a quarter of the league come at me with substantial offers for KK. Like IRL, if a Hannebery/Cotchin type was on the table do you actually think they'd get more than 3 1st round picks for them? You make out like they would yet even Dangerfield only netted a 1st, 2nd and a player as steak knives IRL if i remember right.

Trade gone through

Stoney receives: David Mundy

TBR receives: Todd Marshall, Harry McKay and Stoney's 1st round pick

Interesting to see a top team trade out a starter for essentially 3 kids at this stage of the season - I like it!

Most of my core still have a while left. If I don't win it this year I'll be around the mark for a while.

Mundy 32 next month. Hard to pass up two guys who've gone in the first round in the past two drafts, and another first, for him.

Also TW check your PMs

Wow, interesting trade. Stoney going all out, finals gonna be interesting.

I kind've need to -
- McVeigh was touch and go for Round 1, and has barely played all year. Had i have had any inkling his whole season was a write off, I'd have never drafted him. Hindsight is a beautiful thing.
- Deledio was a calculated risk, but was said to be right by Rd 4, and hasn't played a single game yet (and unlikely to play for the rest of the H&A). The fact he injured his "good" calf was just bad luck.
- Ryan Griffen got injured 3 games into the season and hasn't played since.
- Barlow was prooving to be an excellent pick averaging really good numbers, and then he broke his leg.

So this week I really had to make some moves to keep relevant.

Cotchin and Mundy in,
Very little of my 22 out.

I might not win it, but at least I'll make it competitive.

Better to do something properly than half assed! Which we've both done in opposite ways. So fair play, you're certainly not gonna go out wondering if there was more you could do to win the flag the next 2 years.
